I'm thinking about changing one of my girlfriends (1 Viewer)

I have a Suzuki GSX-R 1000R, a Royal Enfield Continental GT535 plus a couple of classic racing motorcycles

It's the Enfield I'm thinking of changing

I use her for blatting around the local lanes, trips to biker cafes and the odd bit of shopping. It's a brilliant bit of kit and I love her dearly

But, it's a bit of a handful getting her in & out of the moho - she's a bit heavy

I would prefer to just add another bike to my collection, but space is limited, so I am looking for ideas as to what to replace her with

Suggestions please for a bike that is:

Lightish weight

Same performance as Enfield (they claim 32bhp, but I think they measure it at the spark plug!) it tops out at about 85mph, cruises at 70 & easily keeps pace with traffic

Classic or modern

Reasonable seat height (I've got short legs) - no monkey bikes, I've had plenty

Petrol engine (electric is the future, but not just yet + they're too heavy at the moment)

I know I'm old fashioned (and old) but I still like sports bikes (and despite my advancing years I can still manage 350 mile days on the Gixer)

It would be good if it was possible to adapt the gear change to 'race shift'

Budget around 5 grand - flexible

Amusing and irrelevant replies expected, as well as some good ideas - but if anyone suggests a sco... scoo... scoo... I can't say that word - they will go on my ignore list - this has been posted in the 'Motorcycle and Motorhome' section

Stay with Royal Enfield but get a flying flea.
It will take up less space and weigh a lot less than your current Enfield.

If you can, get one without the fuel tank mounted gear stick

Thanks for the suggestion, but they're as heavy has the Enfield and not nearly as cool

I'm just completing a 2 stroke yamaha TZ race bike restoration, so not sure, but a good suggestion

I raced three of them over a 5 year period in the early 80's. All 350 and I loved them. I still specialise in two strokes especially Yamaha's. Great bike but a bit ....err .....Tricky? on the road

Yep, my riding style is still 'hunched over the front' due to spending many years on TZ 350's and needing to get the front down

My favourite is still the A model with the twin shocks - that's what I'm restoring

I also like the original aircooled, but the LC's whilst being a brilliant bike to ride was (IMHO) one of the ugliest bikes Yamaha have ever produced - each to their own, I have friends who think they look beautiful

I don't need a fancy car to pull women, I've got my natural good looks, charm & modesty

On a serious note, the Enfield hasn't missed a beat in 4 years and doesn't leak, Harris brothers designed the frame, so it handles ok

Those Ducatis look nice, but they are very heavy - Enfield territory without the cool
