Hi everyone. I'm about to enter the world of motorhoming - and will be solo full-timing so feeling nervous but exhilarated. Have decided to go for a middle-aged Burstner 821. I know there's a steep learning curve ahead of me but, hey, I enjoy a challenge! Have learnt a lot from reading these forums but new questions keep springing to mind. Look forward to chatting to you all.

The nervousness should go away, the exhilaration shouldn't. I switch off completely when we get away.

Welcome to the fun.

Welcome Maz,
What a great choice of van. Lovely bits of kit, especially for living in.

However you can't come on here and just tell us your going fulltiming and expect to get away with it.

We being nosy funsters want to know the following.

WHERE YOU GOING???

WHAT YOU GOING TO SEE?

HAVE YOU ANY EXPERIENCE?

also, don't forget to join the fulltimers & Single travellers forum on here. PM Jim for details of how to,

Look forward to hearing about your travels.

Hi and thank you for your welcome.

Re the first two questions:

I'll be travelling around the UK (at least until I get used to driving The Beastie, then I'll probably want to venture abroad in it), and I hope to see as much as possible! I'm keen on wildlife and walking, and looking forward to exploring new areas. Change of circumstances has led me into full-timing - reckoned I could either be miserable in a bedsit and working a checkout, or happy doing my own thing in a motorhome. No contest! ::bigsmile:

No experience of motorhoming as such, though I did live (happily) in a caravan a while back. So far my motorhome experience consists of taking The Beastie out for a good half-hour's test drive on all kinds of roads. Had never driven anything that size before but seemed to get the hang of it fairly quickly. At least there was no screaming from the passengers! :winky:

Again, thank you to everyone for your warm welcomes.

I should be clinching the deal on the Burstner this weekend ...... (there doesn't appear to be a 'fingers crossed' smiley)

Oh good timing you would be able to book on to the Peterborough rally come along with FUN and a good start for looking around and buying any bits and bobs you may need at the many trade stalls. Bet you can't wait to get going.

Thank you all again. Yes, I'm hoping to get to the Peterborough show. By then I will have some experience of using The Beastie, so will have a better idea of what I might need. At the moment I'm just sticking to essentials like the water hose (tho' that seems far more complicated than I'd ever imagined! ::bigsmile: ) and a gas kettle.
