Whilst out walking from our base CL in Cheshire last weekend I found these prints.
I'd stopped for a brew at the side of a lovely little brook in the middle of nowhere and these prints were in a sand bank at the side.
I've battered Google but I still cant decide one way or the other?
Any ideas?

Hmmmmm - print is 'pointy' like an otter (badgers are more round) but has only 4 toes I think???? Difficult really cos they get a bit distorted in mud.

Looks a lot like Mr Fox to me, any partic reason you didn't think so?

Edit - in view of ? mink, how big were they? No bigger across than a 2p piece (if so could indeed be mink), or bigger?

Purely from comparing Badger, otter and mink on Google I'd tend to agree on badger but a size reference of some sort would be handy :roflmto: Mike

None at all. I'm just frightened to say otter cos I'd LOVE it to be but think I might be fooling myself!:ROFLMAO::winky:

Look at' Google Images' put 'Otter Tracks in wet sand' into search also look at 'Mink tracks in wet sand'.
I think they are Mink. the actual tracking up (front to rear prints) look nearer to Mink.
Could you smell anything there? Sometimes Otter And Fox smell very similar although Otter should be more fishy.:Eeek:
