Hi Geo,

We paid our property insurance this morning, a couple of pounds extra this year, and yes thats with the NFU. However, our "friend" at NFU said, your M/H and car insurance is due in April, be prepared for a shock, the motor insurance has taken a big hit, and the premiums are being increased, in some cases as much as 50%. NFU paid out 130million last year, (he didn't say if that was motor only, or flood etc etc)

So, we said we to would look around later in the year, when the renewal arrives, but if one does it, then the rest will follow, do you not think.

If you find a better deal, for like yourself, rig and toad, we would be interested in talking to the same company.:thumb:

I know it's a while ago but not a sspin off from your windscreen drama?

Nasty rise.

Try sureteamdirect as they were very fair with me on my window claim.

My last policy with Chaucer had gone up £80 for this renewal, so I changed to AXA with an increase of £13. Still boils my P*zz, but I suppose everything has gone up a bit

Off topic sorry

But if all the uninsured driver were caught our premiums could go down.

Not that difficult if cops really wanted to but sadly Jo Public honest is an easier target 34 mph in 30 mph limit:Doh:

Geo try Sureteam though

If you go down that route you will need to get a extension on your home policy to cover everything in M/H plus extras-Also would need to check out overseas cover

Not a problem on mine as it covers social domestic and pleasure which includes contents, but I do have to specify if it is a motor home that is being used and not just for sale.

But you are quite correct some may not cover contents there is such a huge variation in mototr traders policys it's unreal, mine is very exspensive but very good cover and I have been with them for 41 years.

All the best Rick.

Hii rick
looked into it last year and was almost going ahead with it till they pointed out only customers vehicles coverd for retail value
all own vehicles will be paid out at trade valuation in event of total loss
The reason given "its a trade policy" also all singing and dancing version but half price for the Rv is not on, they tell me all trade policies are the same
are you saying you have full value cover for the motor home

No you are right Geo only trade value if you are claiming off your insurance and not the third party, but they get their valuation by ringing a dealer, (no glasses or cap) they used to ring me for valuations on american and classic cars involved in accidents, we also did valuations for agreed value ins.

The other one to watch out for on some trade policys, if it is road risk only it won't be covered on the premises named on the policy.

If you know the dealers you will get a better valuation if you get my drift it is a bit of a gamble, I am sure if it is a damon involved in an accident Steve gets a call at signature.

My RV is covered on my fleet training policy as a training vehicle and it is not cheap I think it is £795.00 and it does carry a huge £750.00 excess but having said that it is fully comp including europe with no restrictions.

As you know with all insurances you are well covered unless it rained on a Thursday during the year.

All the best and good luck Rick.

Certainly does pay to read policies - most insurers deduct 25% as standard on pay-outs, even full comp.

Trade policies need to be unlimited, so do check that you don't have a value cap - and as motor roamin says, get a valuation done.

Frank Pickles specialise in american vaehicles and motorhomes, so may be worth giving them a call, very helpful bunch there! The prices are pretty good too.

I dare say we will ALL get hikes this year - they have all the flood and snow damages to pay for!

My Traders does have a cap on value of the vehicle I am driving of £250,000 I very rarely get in a vehicle above that value nowadays.

Very few trade policys have an unlimited value any more mine used to be but must be about 15 years ago I took the 250k limit to save £200 per anum, to think my first traders when I was 17 cost me £65.00 comp and they wanted £105 for my MK11 Jag, no contest got my first traders policy not that easy now.

All the best Rick

Saga won't cover RVs.

I found out to my cost last month when I changed to RV. I had just paid annual renewal 2 weeks previous with Saga when I bought it. Charged me £50 to cancel + £23 for the 2 weeks premium coz they don't cover them:Angry:

£23 for two weeks cos they dont cover them:Doh:
dread think how much if they did:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Tell you what there are some scary small prints out there this year that have not cropped up before nearly got a quote for under £450 but no glass cover at all for any A class's, "they cost too much to replace" was the reason but that wasnt advised untill pushed for details on maximum payout
some are even now saying Glass claims will effect no claims bonuses
they want it allways
We take yer cash and you take all the risks:RollEyes:

Hi Geo I found the best thing to do was write down what you want covered and make sure you ask all the Qs and note there reply's- Once I make up my mind which I am going for I also ask if they will record the phone call when I take out the policy again asking specific what is / not covered :thumb: That way no nasty bits if you have to make a claim :thumb:
I found this out several yrs ago when a mate / self builder got an agreed valuation on his van. After it got nicked they tried to pay him 4 k saying it was a self build and difficult to value  After I pointed out that he had an agreed value of 8k they had to bite the bullet and pay out the 8k - Note to self builders get agreed value cover :ROFLMAO::thumb:May also be worth the same on a RV as prices vary a lot :thumb:
