You don't need to make a trip map.
Share your day out, fun meet or whatever.

This is a great way of sharing photos and showing exactly where they were taken.

An example of what you can do with GMaps using your on line albums.. I use Picasa.

Hi
I have loads of photos some of which i have tried to put on here,
I also use Picasa.
So is it that i make a web album ,with Picasa.
And then to do posting on here or Gmaps, do i just get the web address for that photo and then use the insert image tool.
"i tried jims tutorial but cant do it".

Cheers for any help,

Hi. Bigfish

You need an on-line Picasa web album, so that's the first step, create a Picasa account and upload some photos.

Second step, go to Google maps, click on 'My Maps' then create a new map, zoom into the area where you want to put placemarks ( Google name for POIs) .

Using Edit .. click on the placemark Icon and slide to the location, it may help to zoom in closer to get it placed accurately

The placemarker has a text box, you can write here and also paste the html code from your picture in Picasa

see attached pics of where to find html code for picture.

When done save map and click done, you can add more later.

To put map in a post copy the link code from the map.

Give that a try, if you get stuck just ask.. or PM me and I can call you on your land line .. sometimes that's easier .. or if you use Skpe give me a call. scotjimland(at)gmail.com

Jim - finally managed it with your help. Thanks a lot

If it helps anyone else; In the map placemark, use the option "Edit HTML text". Then on the Picasa image use the bottom of the 2 links called "Embed Image".

A single click will highlight all the text in that box. Copy it (CTRL + C) and then paste it into the placemark text box (CTRL + V).

David
