2010 was our first yr M/Homing with both of us retired.
We managed 5 weeks in France, followed by 4 weeks in UK and then 10 weeks in France-a total of 7,500 miles.
Is this average or what-what did you do ?

Mike.

We did over 7000 last year. 8 weeks France, 1 north Scotland, Shrops/worcs/wales, Norfolk (twice), east Yorks. Probably more but I'm old and can't remember.

We do on average 5000 miles a year, but will be happier when we have the time to do more. This last year we spent just over 2 weeks to Switzerland and back, a week in Dorset and as many short breaks as we could manage ending with Christmas at Cromer and New Year at Disneyland Paris

We covered about 5000 miles. We are just in the process of renewing the insurance which had a 5000 mile limit. I asked how much for and extra 2500 miles, I was told an extra £20. I then asked for an extra 5000 miles, it was still jsut an extra £20

Bit of an unusual year for us -------1st year of retirement and our 4 1/2 months road trip in US and Canada---we clocked up 17,500 miles on the trip plus about 2.000 miles running around before and after------dont know what we did here---not recorded.
Should be a bit less this year :thumb:

We did about 5000 miles in 2010,

23 days travelling to Southern France & Northern Italy and back via Paris,

9 days Devon & Cornwall

Various short weekends away plus the Birmingham Shows, Feb & Oct.

Looking forward to 2011, hope to get in a lot more travelling mainly in the UK though. Mind you having 10 days in the sun in Teneriffe in April. (Hotel based)

2012 is Retirement year for me and we hope to be able to do longer Europian trips without the deadline of having to return to work.

Started full timing in March. Total for 12 months Jan to December 7,500 miles.

7 weeks touring Normandy & Brittany plus many other trips. Currently in southern Spain until end of April.

This mileage was reduced by 5 weeks of house sitting for family members during the best of the summer.

Smallholding takes up too much time so only around 3000 miles in total for us. Must do better this year, but to be honest with rising costs the milage drops, I suppose it will eventually become static, but at least the smallholding is a nice place out in the countryside.

5K last year(2010) all UK, but we hired a cottage in France for two weeks, because of the age of our A Class, Red Pennant wanted an extra £137 if we took it overseas, so we took the station waggon instead.

Already booked the month of August in the Faroes by car when we bought the motorhome in July so we were restricted to the Lincoln meet in October and, a week in Scarborough, a week near Chester where we had air suspension fitted, plus some other shopping on the way home, and finally a windy long weekend in Norfolk. Switzerland, France and Denmark next but when and in what order not sure yet.

People on fixed incomes have £X to spend on fuel ... so it's inevitable that higher costs will curtail their annual millage ..

We sold our RV this year for two reasons. First, we knew we could not afford to use it the way we had in previous years .. and second, with Chaz in school we would only have school holidays for trips .. so there was no point in keeping it to sit idle most of the time just rotting away..and costing money.

However, to me it's more important how many NIGHTS you spend in a van rather than how far you go .. You could do 5k in one trip, or spread that over the year doing shorter trips..
We spent three years living in ours but only did around 15k miles .. With previous vans we had done 10k or more in one year but only saw a fraction of what we saw in 15k.

Hey up Haggis lad, good to see you're up and about!

We did all of 200 miles last year, two weekend trips between hospital thrashes, and they were wonderful... over the Glen Esk, great site, great walking.
