Can I ask, did fitting simply involve drilling a 14mm hole?

Yes, and to stop it being lifted up to get a disc cutter to the pin, I glued a 6mm thick washer to the pin.

Can't they just unbolt the seat and swop with the unlocked passenger seat, only four easily accessible bolts.

I have washers under my Patriot so as to not allow cutting from underneath. I suspect it will just spin with an angle grinder attack. You need the short shank version. The longer version is for use with a chain.

Yes it would spin and It’s a good line of defence and deterrent but an angle grinder would go through the metal plating of the seat base like knife through butter

I looked at the practicalities of your statement of removing the Patriot security lock with a cordless grinder and I feel that at least in the way I have fitted mine that the removal with a cordless grinder are unfounded.

I own a Dewalt cordless grinder, the choice of most would-be thief's so offered up my grinder in many positions to try and get to the rear of the Patriot security lock to cut through the seat base plate as you suggest can be done and as you can see from the photos that this is not possible. So although you could cut up the sides of the lock, I'm happy that the rear can not be accessed.

I located mine so when I had the seat turned I could move the seat where I need it. You would have to make a large diamond shape cut in the base to remove the lock. My idea was really to slow them down and make them have to make considerable noise doing it. I have another idea as well - a long shank quality padlock (Ingersoll Impregnable) through the steering universal joint that interferes with turning the wheel and again difficult to get to with an angle grinder as both sides of the shank need to be cut and it is behind the pedals. The shank in the picture is normally to the back of the joint.

Why is the storage bracket shaped in this way? Is it to clip on to a motorcycle somewhere, no instructions with it and the hole is a bit big for a screw. I found the cheaper one at XL moto by Googling for photos of the bracket ????

A lot of bike disc locks have a coiled cable that is clipped into the lock and the handlebar grip to remind the rider it is there, may be the hole is for the clip.
