Alternative to snow chains (1 Viewer)

As I look out of the window at the first snow of the season, I was wondering if anyone has used "Autosocks" see link http://www.roofbox.co.uk/car-snow-socks/ instead of snow chains. They look as if they would be useful on grass etc, We are off to Lincoln next week for a few days and I thought they may be of use as I hope to continue using the van as much as I can over winter.

£ 50 for something that looks like it will last about 5 minutes I recon they will be ripped to bits the minute they hit something hard like a stone or even the tarmac under the snow.

Fraid its snow chains for me all the way :thumb:

Yeh know what you mean, they look quite flimsy, there supposed to have Kevlar or sum such in them, Ive never used chains either, so as far as motor-home driving goes, I'm a novice never driven anything as heavy as mh in snow

Now thats the kind of accessory I would definitely buy, do you know who stocks them

you could get one of those under each drive wheel and still have them joined in the middle

Oh in case your wondering,,, noooo,, they will not help you out of the snow, but they sure as heck will make your stay more tolerable !

Snow socks are quite well known for shredding unless on soft, and deep snow. The fact that you would have to remove them on the main roads would make them 'high maintenance'

Spiders may be a better option....or just a darn good set of winter tyres!

I used snow socks in Courcheval in Feb. Excellent!!!
2 mins to fit and worked like a dream.
Got chains but wouldn't bother with them again, you can have them for £20
