Hi folks. I may have found something very good for us motorhomers. I have MR 11 bulbs in our compass 120 low profile with G4 bases 10 watt halogens and wanted, as we all do to reduce the drain on the leasure battery. Im no good at posting internet links but type this in:-MR 11 G4 21 led home spot light spotlight lamp bulb 12v on eBay. and have a look. They have to come from Hong Kong , but, my first one came after 9 days and it fits and it is warm white, which we like and it draws 1 watt. I just looked on eBay again and they are now 99p and 99p postage each. ! ! ! Yes I know its weird to send them individualy which wont save the planet, but it will save your battery. Good luck , I have just ordered another 5. Hope this helps you all. I saw Brian the Hilldweller say how expensive they were and thought lets have a look. PS the bulbs are 35 mm long and 35 mm diameter and fit into the holder and hold in with the circlip. I know I have dribbled on a bit. Bye. Mitch.

I bought four of these replacements at Lincoln for about £30 and they certainly do what they say regarding battery draw. The only thing I would say is they are not so good as reading lights if you need a good light in your twilight years (pun intended). I used mine over the kitchen area and over the lounge for background lighting but will eventually replace most but not all of the halogens.

Thanks Keith, do you think they are standard to all motorhomes, we cant check ours as it is STILL with the dealer being repaired, they are aiming for the first week in December for return to us, so here's hoping!

When do you set off for Spain, we are certainly hoping to join you some time in January!

Ours are like the ones on Ebay on the link below and are 5 & 10 watt so i have changed some of ours to strip LED's but still want a few more so at 1W these should do nicely. ::bigsmile: They have 2 pins at the back that plug into the small holes in the lamp.

Cannot say yours will be the same as there are 2 types, so you need to make sure they will fit.

Planning to get away Mid December as soon as we have sorted ourselves out & booked the tunnel. Look forward to seeing everyone in 2011.

Postage

I believe the vendor has to pay tax on the purchase price of the LEDs but not on postage costs. Hence the reason for sending them out one by one and no discount on postage.

I'm sure that's why they do it, but I have bought items from the far east & never been charged tax, so i guess it works. :thumb:

To me they are too cheap. I tried cheap LEDs once, they fried.
Recently bought some from Yaten (spelling?) at NEC.
I'll see how they work on our next trip.

Have to disagree about the reading lights. I have now replaced all but 2 of my lights with LED (all from Aten) the ones I needed for my bedside reading lights were a bit unusual. They have 20 LEDS and you almost need sunglasses to read in bed. I have replaced my awning light, which had 4 halogen bulbs and was so dim as to be virtually useless. Replaced with a 18 led strip customised by Aten at no additional cost which is at least twice as bright with a quarter of the consumption.

Must 'be the season' !
I have waited several months to get the last pair of strips of white led's to replace the strip lights all round above the cupboards ( 6 of the things.. all 18w, all come on with the one switch when you enter the van )
Got 5 pairs months ago at a good price but then the company went.. Just bout another couple of pairs for 11 quidlets ( I put two strips per standard strip bulb and am keeping another pair as spare  )
