Seems the manufacturers are in revolt, NEC is going to be a bit bare next October !

Serves the NEC right, they got too greedy.

October 22, 2010
PRESS RELEASE – PRESS RELEASE – PRESS RELEASE – PRESS RELEASE
Caravan and motorhome industry launches its own show
A new motorhome and caravan show is set to take centre stage in the October exhibitions calendar. The show will be organised by NCC Events Limited, under the leadership of Gary Barbe, former Events Director of the National Boat, Caravan and Outdoor Show. The first show will be held at ExCel, London from 25th – 30th October 2011.
All major industry manufacturers (Bailey, Coachman, Elddis, Lunar, Swift and Trigano) have underwritten the show as a means to the industry getting the best for its consumers. The Caravan Club and The Camping and Caravanning Club are also 100 per cent in favour, showing their support through innovative consumer marketing initiatives.
Exhibitor rates are greatly reduced to ensure both the industry and its customers get the best possible deal for their national show. NCC Members will benefit from an additional reduction of £5 per square metre. Entry ticket prices are also being set far below current exhibition levels, with The Caravan Club and The Camping and Caravanning Club members receiving further discounts.
Nick Lomas, Director General of the Caravan Club said: “It’s wonderful to see the industry running their own show and we look forward to working pro-actively with the manufacturers for the benefit of our members.”
Robert Louden, Director General of The Camping and Caravanning Club agrees. “We are fully supporting the new show and see it as a great opportunity to grow the market and bring new customers into the caravanning industry.”
ExCel, London is a world-class events venue, in the heart of the nation’s capital and situated in a 100-acre campus with dozens of contemporary bars, restaurants, pubs and hotels.
Managing Director of NCC Events, Gary Barbe, said: “Travelling to this venue could not be easier, with easy access from the M25, M11, A406 and A13, three onsite DLR stations and close proximity to five main London airports. We will be running a national travel campaign for visitors to the show, including national train and coach packages from major cities around the UK.”
For more information about the show please contact Gary Barbe, NCC Events Ltd on 0844 8094694 (office hours) or 07799 030521 (out of hours) or visit www.motorhomeandcaravanshow.co.uk.

Ooohh nice to have a show back in London again, its been a few years but I am definitely looking forward to going to this one.

If anyone else fancies going and wants to make an extended "meet" out of it, perhaps nearer the time we can organise something

I see that the Excel is inside the LEZ so don,t forget your £200 per day for your older MH. Could make it an expensive show for some :Eeek:

Well that`s our 13th year & still loving it.
excell centre

Well if it turns out to be anything like the London Boat Show it`ll be one big mistake.
Since the London Boat Show moved from Earls court the attendance figures have dropped by as much as 15% per year, odd as it is a bigger more open venue, on the waters edge perfect you would think for a boat show.
Truth is there just isn`t any atmosphere at the excel centre.
It`s not easy for anyone outside of London to get to, at least the NEC is central and has free parking, you won`t find that in London

So go for it big money boys but historical data says you`ll be making an expensive mistake.

I wonder what would happen if shops started charging entry fees?

Nothing stopping people camping at debden or at lea valley and going by train to the show - we could always make a rally out of it.

Well just looked at where this venue is and sorry folks we will not be going - there is no way it can be as convenient as NEC - I can understand why the manufacturers want to move away due to cost but anyone having to circumnavigate london will know that you can waste hours on the M25 where as NEC is 2 to 3 hours away for most and once you are set up in the car park for a few days its easy. There may be a few people go from kent or essex that would not bother with the NEC but the routes from everywhere aim at NEC area but London is a pain for all unless you are on the doorstep

London does not want visitors in any type of vehicle, I for 1 would not go if it was free to get in as its just to much hassle to go anywhere near London except by public transport and I did not pay all that money for a van to go by bus

I am sure that the new venue will attract a lot of interest from the Geordie contingent, it's only about an extra 165 mile round trip for us compared with Birmingham NEC ::bigsmile:

Well we wont be going bad enough having to travel to brummie but wont be going to London for show.

It really just goes to show the southeners dont care about anyone else as long as their ok just look at wembely for instance when they had the chance to relocate it midlands would have been great for the whole country.

Have to stick to the Scottish one
