Personally I would't buy AGMs (Absorbed Glass Mat) or GEL batteries

'Bang for your buck' , cheap FLAs ( flooded lead acid) are hard to beat ..

Sorry for the slow reply takes a while to read all that info Jim, very helpful, we have a hymer554 and I want to fit two batteries and a solar panel, the battery already fitted is three years old and has had little stand along use, I have read that I need to replace with two new batteries, for to add a new batter and connect to the old one is not a good idea.
Looking as all yorkshire men do get the best for least money possible.

look no further, buy cheap FLAs .. good enough for the U Boats .. good enough for me :thumb:

On a serious note, I bought 4 x 85 cheap FLAs in 2005 .. IIRC about £30 each, and they were still going strong when I sold the RV this year.

Also, be aware of battery warranties .. they aint worth the paper written on because if you have a claim you will first have to prove that you didn't abuse it, almost impossible to do. Secondly, if they do pay out you will only get the pro rata value for the remainder of the warranty period, not a replacement battery.

I once asked a battery retailer what the difference was between a 1, 3 and 5 year warranty .. the reply.. the price .. no other difference..
