Our last two summer "escapes" from Spain have seen us, eventually, spending some time in Norway, a country we have found an affinity with. However, anyone reading my previous two threads ...

https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/from-spain-to-norway-the-long-way-round.152917/

and

https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/the-jumars-at-no-32-go-on-holiday-from-spain-to.177768/

... will know we've had (an expensive) breakdown on both occasions

However ... because we love Norway (and the fishing opportunities (Martin only, I hasten to add) ) this summer we've saved up for a contingency plan, and intend to have a third attempt.

The "Shall I, shan't I, is whether to do a thread, but I've almost persuaded myself that the answer is yes, because a thread is a good way to keep a diary.

Sooo....

In the not too distant future our 2019 summer trip will be put on here for all eternity.

(Some early planning may be mentioned also).

Thanks for reading ... and reading ... and ...

Anthea, thank you and I hope you're "all seeing" and your prediction comes true.

Three strikes and this motorhome is out ("probably").

Our last few weeks has been emptying the motorhome of too much cr@p plus rubbish stored in there over our winter and house move. We took it to a local weighbridge. Two thirds fuel, half a tank of water one full gas bottle, bedding, towels etc plus outdoor jackets, two mountain bikes and an inflatable kayak and assorted fishing gear (and me) but no food or other clothes and we weighed in at (as usual!!!) 3340k.

We've used different weighbridges and we ALWAYS weigh the same before a trip!

Sooo, a new ticket MAY be purchased when we're fully kitted out and on the road. Or maybe not (y).

We're working out our contingency plans for carrying our local, wine and "a drop of" gin. Can't say where on here, it's a secret .

The next bit of preparation was to inspect the inflatable kayak, the use of which Martin hopes is going to make him into an expert fisherman in Scandinavia .

We took it down to the Mazarron coast this morning and he had a couple of hours out in it while I cycled along the coast to check out a beach that everyone raves about here o_O.

For anyone who's "wild camped" at Percheles Beach, there is a fence being built atm to close off the parking area. Whether its legal no-one can yet find out.

Going via Greece ?

It looks lovely, but probably out of the frying pan into the fire ... at this time of year.

Looking forward to comparing notes though ... just wait until we're "pwt" and we'll wish for some sun

We are at Hirtshals, crossing today, it’s very windy, Kwells will be taken! We are relying on others doing the fishing. Have fun both of you.

Have a great trip. I hope your crossing is not as bad as you're expecting. Have you been to Norway before? If not, you're in for a treat!

This is our first time and we are very excited. As we’re wimps we are in a group and we’ve been travelling with them for a week now and they seem like a great crowd. We’re happy pottering in France and Spain but this was a bit outside our comfort zone. Some stuff is organised but there’s also plenty of free time to do what you want.

It's really not necessary to be in a group, they are civilised people in Norway and speak great English  but sometimes a group is good because you find places and things to see and do that you might miss otherwise.

Enjoy!

Have spent many winters on Playa Percheles beach before they put the height barrier up. There used to be a whole community of snowbirds on that beach and a good sauce of income for the village during the winter. Fish, bread and vegetables were delivered daily by local traders. Those were the best days of motorhoming when we were welcomed everywhere in Spain. Ah well, change has to happen I suppose.

Apartment cleaned and mobile hairdresser arrived to cut my hair this morning. Floor swept of hair cuttings and then we were on the road.

We left Murcia in hot sun and blue skies, popped onto a weighbridge!!! (not too bad if we keep on our diet) and ALDI and then we've driven the 400km to El Saladillo in the Castellon region. In the last 3 km we were battered by strong winds and the sky was grey.

We are now at the official motorhome parking here that we stayed at last year (with the donkey mural). Unfortunately, it's raining! so I'm not about to go out to take a new photo.

Just had a "F" motorhome join us. Six spaces, and guess where he's parked? We can still just about open our door

Forgot to mention that on our drive here I saw (Martin was driving and looking ahead) an Aguila Culebrera (Snake Eagle). It rose from the ground at the side of Martin's window and it was gripping a snake (about 18" long) in its talons.

It was literally only metres away from us, albeit the other side of glass!!!

Bl@@dy h@ll my thread took some finding on my phone!!!

We had a walk this morning, instead of a via Ferrata I'd found. It looked very ominous all the way round but got bluer! as we got back!! Martin's knee held up, although I made him ice it as soon as we got back.

What we thought was a walk to a barranco (ravine) turned out to be (cos it was in Catalan) a series of stone shelters (barrascas) of various shapes and sizes. Check out the doorway on mine and Martin's. I feel soooo tall.

The first one is out of order and was a storage room and a human shelter.

And a view over a Catalan vineyard.

From here we've driven to a camperstop just north of Manresa where we've had a wander around the lake and watched the local kids in the "brown .. not get me in there ever" water!

Of course Martin had to have a go.

A long time driving, but very little ground covered, but we ARE now in France on a municipal aire in the village of Coursan. Not the prettiest or quietest of places (atm) but we didn't want to travel too much further until we'd researched places to stop off to climb, bike or walk. We're heading towards Millau over the next few days and hoping to stop a few times beforehand.

Sooo, sorry folks, a boring post today.
