I was in my local garage yesterday with our car, and I asked them about Boxer cam belts as ours is five years old and has done 16000 miles. They had a look in their cam belt bible and it says 72000 miles or ten years. I don't know what to do now as ten years seems a long time.

No, he was right, the book he showed you would have been Autodata and that shows only Manf recomendationsLooks like a cam belt change for me then, thought ten years was a bit long. But he showed me the book. I suppose different after market makers have different change intervals. But your right for peace of mind I will get it done.

I eventually got round to getting a quote ,phoned the main Peugeot dealer ,left my number with them and they didn't even bother to call back. So I googled it and found Link Removed ,left my number and was called back by a Mobile cam belt specialist who quoted me £ 115 for belt ,pulleys fitted.Does this sound like a good deal and is there anything I should be wary of ?
I have no axe to grind, and as I no longer own a garage I am not looking for work.
I have seen so many bodged jobs done by so called discount centres, one of the biggest culprits sell tyres exhausts shockers etc, and will do their best into scaring you into buying what is not needed.
The best advice is to find a local garage with a good reputation that if something does go wrong (which is less likely) you can go back and they will put it right with an apology.
Just ask any Mechanic on here and they will tell you the same I am sure.
All the best Rick.
