I'm getting The Beast weighed before we set off for France only problem is I'm not sure what the MPLM is? Searched through all of the bumf that came with the van (and believe me there is loads). The manual says to refer to the specifications page but there isn't one. I've got it in my head that it's 3850kg. Can anyone help. Van is a 2000 Bessacarr E765.

Under the bonnet, and/or on the inside of the door shut, could be either side there should be a plate with all your weights, ideally it should be one from the convertor but it may be the origional chassis manufacturer one, have a look and see what there is?

Have a look at the log book. It will have gross vehicle weight on it. Somewhere top left on page 2

Sticker on the door (in Italian) states 'Static load on rear axle' and underneath that it lists 600, 820, 1500 and 2120 ?

Standard is 3400kg and there was an optional upgrade to 3850kg.

You will need to check the rating plate on the van.

Have a look at your tax disc.
I may be wrong, but I believe that if your weight is 3500 or less it will state PLG (Private Light Goods). If over this eg 3850 it will be PHG (Private Heavy Goods).

Argh, but that assumes the bod registering the van in the first place filled that bit in:Doh:

We are PLG, no weight listed on the log book, we are 28ft RV, 6731kgs on the vehicle plate.......

....and yes, a job for the winter months(less use), paranoi in case DVLA bugger about and leave us technically unregistered or whatever.

That's obviously where I've got confused then. How do you go about upgrading the weight ?

get it sorted dodgey,

technicaly you are overweight by 3231kg and not taxed properly, thus untaxed, plus you're also paying around £45 a year too much for road tax.

a visit to your local DVLA office will sort it. :thumb:

Yup, I know, and thanks, but as said paranoid once I start with DVLA we have a problem that stops us using the RV, even if just a few weeks hence waiting until later in the year.

Does make me laugh though that it will save us on TAX:Doh:
