So we get back from Spain to Blighty the first week of January and immediately start to prepare for the UK winter armageddon. The 4WD is sitting there fitted with snow tyres, its boot armed with folding shovel, recovery mats, etc. and we have a cupboard-full of Arctic clothing at the ready.

Cut to today, mid-February, and there we were on the east coast sitting out in deck chairs with air temperatures of 16 C and in-the-sun temps of 20+.

The daffodils are in bloom and the boot sales have started two months early :)

Snowchains are sat in the garage unused for the second winter, never been fitted.
Last set were trial fitted to last car than sat in garage unused for 5 years.... And are still there now.

We haven't had enough snow for a decent snowball fight for over seven years in Scarborough.

Did you not get a load last year from "the beast from the east"?

Even WITH last years "Beast from the East" we did not suffer as badly as (say) 1974. The last time we where actually snowed in!. And 1948!. Snow over the tops of my Wellie`s going to school!

1982 was a good year for snow in Wales.

I was doing my A levels and school was shut for a week because there was no power.

All the pubs were lit by candles and the normal beer pumps wouldn’t work but I can’t remember why. We just drank bottles of Newcastle Brown.

Great memories.

Nope, still no snowball fights.

We get an inch or so then it melts an hour later.
Scarborough has its own microclimate.

This is about as bad as it gets in recent years, the following day it had gone.

If it had snowed and laid every day for a week we wouldn't have had this much this year.

not so newbie anymore - since 2016
Just seen a butterfly in the garden

Same here, it was so strange that I looked it up and think it was a Clouded Yellow.

Mind you, without the 'wisdom' of Professor Google, I wouldn't know my Clouded Yellow from a Red Admiral.

If I dispose of my Snowplough I bought four years ago the weather WILL change and snow until June. Best anti snow device ever. Just sit there unhappy.
