Rhine in flames ... (1 Viewer)

We will be in Koblenz area later this week and have just found out it is the weekend of Rhine in Flames.
We would love to find somewhere close by to stay a few days. Any suggestions please!!!!!
Know it's going to be really busy so need all the help we can get.

Hi Scotties
There are plenty of Stelplatz along the banks of the Rhine, you will have to get on one a few days in advance though as they will all fill up very quickly. Alternatively you could find a campsite, we stopped at Camping Platz Rhudeshiem in Rhudeshiem. From here you can catch a boat which will take you up the river to watch the firework display. The boats anchor up midstream for the duration of the display before returning to their berths, some have an onboard restaurant if you fancy making an occasion of the trip.

Plenty of places along the Rheinalee in Boppard ideal place to jump on train or ferry to different parts of the Rhein.

The Rhine valley is a wonderful place to visit but for us there was just one small niggle.

In certain places there are railway lines on both sides of the river and the valley sides are steep, making the noise from the trains loud enough to keep you awake. some of the trains can be 40 or 50 units long ans as they move at slow speed it can take several minutes to pass.

But the good news is that there are plenty of spots where there is no problem. Enjoy!

Agree there Doug, although my countless trips around Europe where in a 12m coach, I used to see loads of M/H parked up in the coach parks.
You have to admire there trains & shipping. One side freight one side passengers. Love this part of Germany, cant wait till January and have loads of time to tour in my M/H
