Very true Jim, when the motor trade was in its infancy there were no petrol stations, you bought petrol from the chemists shop. There were no garages offering breakdown recovery and repair/servicing. Didn't stop the industry taking off though did it?

Unfortunately here many would still like electricity in their houses. Having never seen an electric charging point ,other than one Tesla system & only ever seen one customer, anywhere in spain I'd think they will struggle here.
Especially as we also have a shortage as the weather gets warmer. Then you have to ask how many sites are going to put in electric charging points when the cost of electricity here is charged on what capacity you purchase & most , even if they wanted it , would either not have the capacity available locally ,therefore they couldn't have it or , as is usual, they would have to pay the full costs of the infrastructure & all installation. Just like house owners do .

The point has already been made regarding space in car parks for a motorhome t o charge. Most UK car parks have height barriers to prevent the likes of us entering. What then the likely hood of being able to plug in and if you can what will it cost. I know at the moment we can do it for free in most car parks but that's costing the operator very little for 2 or 3 points especially with government support, but that won't last unless there is a hike in tax to pay for it.

The problem with electric vehicles is the more you drive, the less useful it becomes. My brother had a Tesla but sold it and bought a diesel Jaguar. The Tesla couldn’t cope with the amount of miles he had to do most days.
At the moment, an electric vehicle is a novelty for people who do minimal mileage.

Fair point. My knowledge of charge points is limited but I doubt wether their system would cope with more than 1 or 2 at a time and certainly not if too many hair dryers and coffee makers switched on as well.

We are nice clean LPG and Petrol so we are Crit Air Class One The lowest possible unless 100% Electric

Yes but living in a third world country is your choice . There are some benefits of living in Spain though. In the winter is doesn't smell of poo quite so much

Batteries are heavy, but then so is 100L of diesel, a compression engine, exhaust etc, and we won't need leisure batteries. Payload could go up

Well "Maurer Fahrzeugbau to make the e-camper’s bodywork" this won't make it the cheapest in the world IMO,

This might look like a Sprinter coach built/PVC until you realise that the whole front end is wider than a Sprinter the sides are subtly curved and it is all made of fibreglass, they have taken the original cab bodywork and stretched it and integrated it with the rear body and then made moulds, a lot of work for something that doesn't look much different to the original, I had a good look at them at Dusseldorf

Hi, I've never really agreed with the environmental benefits of an electric vehicle compared to fossil fueled ones, they're just different. In my opinion what is gained in local air quality, is lost to the environmental cost in the production of the batteries (usually in poorer parts of the world).
Lets be realistic, the mining industries of the world have never been known for being green friendly. How can digging up thousands of tonnes of the earth's crust or pumping millions of litres of water underground to extract a few grams of rare earth minerals be considered an environmental benefit.

You forgot the sun shining daily in winter. living around farms it always stinks & the flies have nearly died out at last.

Thats what surprises me about spain, they seem to have solar farms and windfarms all over the place yet they re still short of power.

There is a bit of a conundrum here though:

The government cannot afford to lose the 'green' taxes from us needing to use vehicle to go about our business.

Its politically difficult to come up with a new reason to tax electric cars and still get people to buy them.

Given the above people no longer want fossil fuelled power stations, Nuclear scares the sh*t out of them, nobody wants the country covered in wind turbines and the weather isnt good enough to rely on solar.

Its looks very nice but its nuts that a truck with a V10 IC engine is considered 'clean'.
A bit like pellet boilers!!
