On and off for many years.
There's a lot of preparation behind the scenes but I love it.

It takes me about 4 times as long to prepare than to do - and that is without making up individual kits.

if I had my way - my stuff would encroach on every room in the house:LOL:

Mine does.

Sometime in the New Year, after daughter has cleared her room now she has her own house, her room will become out guest room and I will have the current guest room as my studio. Martin will then get what was my half of the attic for his model railway.

I won't have as much floor space but I will have full height walls so think I will win overall. As the room may still be needed as an emergency guest room I am considering this type of set up

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Narnia-C...x-Workbox-Hobbybox-FREE-DELIVERY/253959153916

I'd need additional table space in the right place for my sewing machine and to take the weight of a full size quilt in progress but they could be pasting tables or similar which would fold away when not in use.

I can identify with all of the above. Never could resist interesting balls of wool in charity shops. :)
Neither can I ......but I always regret not getting a full bag of burgundy chenille wool at the time I had a couple of projects on the go and let Max persuade me that I didn’t really need it:doh:

Now that’s a really good idea Helen:)

I'm a newbie
Not crochet I know and some of you may have seen it on Morning Funsters. I’ve finished the Harry Potter quilt.

Chris asked me last week if I could make a quilt for hi s Dads birthday (in 2 weeks time ), so I’ve managed to piece a simple flannel top together today. I’m waiting for backing fabric to arrive then hopefully I’ll be able to sandwich and quilt that this week. I’ve also got a stack of towels to embroider for Christmas pressies.

We get this Nativity out each year as Robs Auntie Daisy lovingly knitted it for our girls.

Motorhomed for almost 7 years - now going nowhere!
@Puddleduck I had a look at your shelves Helen. Narnia - good name. These were already in the house when we bought it and they vary in height as well as width which is useful. I can get box files in some and various multiples of plastic boxes with lids. I did think the small cubby holes in Narnia might be a bit restrictive. That's how I ended up with the smallest room so when I'm dressmaking or doing a quilt I take over the dining room. No hassle as we only eat in there when we have visitors.

@Offagain I'll have to have a go at the Granny Square baubles - I'll study the pattern later but it looks as though they are covers for baubles and I have a dozen dull gold ones that never get used.

@Anthea M Are you sure you don't want to learn to crochet? Look at the lovely things you could make. The nativity scene is lovely,

Fantastic quilt Alice @Chrysalis - love all the little pictures - are they called icons or vignettes? Anyway little items of interest.

@SueTayBon Seeing your little angel reminds me that I have one somewhere - all in pieces - waiting to be treated with sugar solution. I made it for last Christmas and it's funny I haven't come across it while I was sorting out my room.:xlaugh:

Mustn't leave out @Ven Have you finished the waistcoat/jacket - pictures please.

@Jenben Still chuckling over the boxes of wools.

Have a happy day everyone - I'm off now to get more ladies learning to crochet.

Love all your quilting work , I think they will all be thrilled with their wonderful homemade gifts. It is such a thoughtful thing to do.

I am planning to make Christmas stars (patchwork decs) for my lovely outdoor swimming friends, we call ourselves ‘the ladies of the lake’.

I ordered a bit of mermaid fabric yesterday as I had none in my stash , then realised I really needed blue Christmas fabric to complement it, so ordered that and then needed some blue Christmas ribbon......x:-)

I confess I haven’t looked at the pattern, just thought it may be something your beginners crochet group may be interested in. I’ve never made granny squares. I’ve always been a knitter but when I started doing the octopuses found them incredibly difficult as you need extremely tiny needles and tight tension, so taught myself to crochet them. Still a tiny hook and tight tension but I’ve never known another way of crocheting. Maybe I’ll give one a go and post it here, I’ve got some sparkly wool.

@Chrysalis quilt in a week ????? So far it has taken me over 100 hours of quilting on my nephew's quilt and still not finished!

@snailtrailer the cupboard comes flat packed and the person who makes and sells them tells me I can leave out some of the shelves and / or dividers if I want to. I am going to see one that is already made up when we go to our son's house in February then I will decide.

This will be the most simple of simple quilts :).

I’m currently trying to finish a certain someone’s Xmas pressie, but he keeps texting me because he’s travelling and bored!

I always say things are going to be the most simple of simple but I appear to be incapable of simple quilting.

Just need to finish my drink and then I will do an hour before lunch. I am doing graffiti work - as it is a wedding quilt I am quilting some love poetry in a graffiti style....

"How do I love thee?"

"Let me count the ways."

and so on. In different places so they will have to go on a poem hunt to find it. I missed out the last few morbid lines. I have also added in some of the traditional marriage service. Really enjoying it and will do more in the future but better.

There are some nice crochet Xmas decs on here ....

http://www.simplycrochetmag.co.uk/2018/11

The robin looks lovely but I don't have time this year.

Martin just shooed our robin from the garage, shut the garage door, remembered he had forgotten something, opened the door again to be greeted by the robin who is sitting on one of the kayaks.

My two sample octopus did not get their water wings so will be going to an angel baby instead. :xsad: I am going to try an even smaller crochet hook and not follow the pattern too closely when it says 50 chain for the tentacles. So far it's cost me a small fortune so I'm plodding on. The web page is on Facebook too and that has been difficult for me. I seem to find Messenger by pure chance. Lesson to all - keep up with technology or you'll get lost.(n)
