Hi,

Can anybody advise me where I can get reasonable cost insurance to cover my home and contents if I am away for 60 to 90 days please?

My current insurers only charge around £180 but this only covers me for a maximum of 60 days away.

Thanks

Andy

Caravan Club is 90 days but on request can be 180 days if certain criteria are met.

Have you asked your current insurers if they will quote for a longer period?

The caravan and camping club provides cover for 180 days, you need to be a member, its the main reason we are members, but we do use the CL's and THS's in the summer.

Do these insurers mentioned, that offer 90 or 180 days, require the house to be checked periodically?

Thanks Ed, I'll give them a call. I hope their prices are nothing like the ripoff prices they quoted us earlier this year for travel insurance.

Camping and Caravanning Club couldn't cover us. None of the insurers on their panel would cover us because we live less than 200 yds from the sea, even though we are at the top of a cliff which is one of the highest places on the island we live on! If we flood there will be no more island!

We used to be insured via C&CC who gave us 180 days away with no visits required. The renewal this year was silly money.

Changed to C&MC this year as we only need circa 90 days away. Cost between £300 to £360 depending on building upper limit.

Thanks everybody for your help. I'll phone CAMC and C&CC. If you know of any actual insurance companies who I can contact directly please let us know.

Do you really need insurance for just 30 days? What's the worst that could happen when nothing has happened in the past. Take a gamble?

Hi Alex, it's 60 to 90 days, not 30. I did think of taking a gamble but the wife wouldn't hear of it. You make a good point though.

I thought you meant you wanted cover for 90 days instead of 60 ===== 30 days
Although I found out long ago it was best to listen to the wife:blush::Smile:
