Let's not get carried away here folks. I'm in the market for a driveaway so had a quick look at "our" suppliers.

Movelite XL.

Two prices from our suppliers £219.99 and £220.00. Less 5%.

Search in Google and immediate hit at £189.00.

Our suppliers need to try harder in these tight times.

You can imagine what would happen to this message on The Dark Side !!

Agreed..

I called one of our 'suppliers' for a price on a Thetford Porta Potti Model 345 , it's listed at £116.99 .. so if a 10% discount was applied that would be about £104

The person who took the call was polite but said the shop line was busy, leave your number and we will get back to you asap .. so I gave my landline and waited by the phone.

I waited and waited more two hours until about 5pm so I think, no call today.
So I did a Google and found another camping supplier who did it for £82.95 + £4.99 p&p , next day delivery..

So I ordered and it was delivered before I got the return call from our supplier ...

Wake up supppliers, the web is full stores willing to give a good price and a good service..

Putting two and two together I take it that both posts refer to Johns Cross!

As regards phones, our telephones are manic at the moment, as fast as they put a phone down, it rings again, unfortunately we cannot get them to ring as 'engaged' so rather than just let them ring, a member of office staff will answer and take a message.

As regards prices, we cannot win them all and there are people on the net absolutely desperate for business and work for nothing or pure cash flow to pay the bills.

Good luck to them, not my scene thankfully.

Very difficult for you Peter. Once you dip your toe into the internet and the box shifter it's dog eat dog. It's pretty much a buyer's market right now.

Brian,

Actually it is not a buyers market at all, we are run off our feet supplying internet and telephone orders and the footfall in our showroom is massive.

Camping accessories are in short supply and stock cannot be renewed at this time of the year, distrubutors have sold out, we are fortunate in that we place bulk scheduled orders in the winter for delivery throughout the season.

Just spoken to our Business Banking Manager about something totally not to do with finance and he informed me in the course of conversation that the Banks are very reluctant to lend! They have no money.

Watch this space, the desperate fire sale boys are going to go pop in my view,

Peter
