We visited last week, just stopped a few hours then went on to Porthmaddog.
We gave a donation of £10 to stay overnight in the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway car park.
They closed the gate and hung the chain over so it looked locked overnight.
Its next to the train track, but its a line that doesnt get that many trains.

Thanks on the heads up.. Seen it mentioned before but always good to have a reminder.
I note the website only states for cars and goods vehicles..
Have emailed them and suggested they add "motorcaravan" on there so everyone knows where they stand (y)

Note to @jezport .... Geography.. Must try harder..;)(y):D
But I guess Wales is Wales...

I was commenting that we stopped there for a few hours and then went on to Porthmaddog.
There was more to do and see in Porthmaddog and its a nice scenic drive. We did a few other stops on the way.

That's interesting.
Could I ask if staying there was a 'one off' for you or is it a pretty regular overnight staying place?

Its not regular, but if you ask in the shop and tell them you dont need any services and put £10 in their donation box Im sure they will oblige.

Will you please stop telling everyone how great Wales is

We already have far too many interlopers here already (including me) :)

It's fantastic, with a motorhome i'm rediscovering it. I love the road from Welshpool toDollgellau over Dinas.

After some less than helpful issues years ago when i was young and sensitive involving Welsh speakers when the language was used to exclude Brits I drew a line through Machynlleth and never went North of it.

Now , I think the language has been rehabilitated and now it's perfectly acceptable to use it anywhere in Wales (from a Brit perspective) so I now don't feel as I used to.

The car park at Hay on Wye is a good overnight stop. Just off the town centre it's quiet if you go to the far end. Through the gate there's miles of walking, dogs ok on leads ( sheep)
Thinking of moving back to Wales in next 1-2 years. Just need to find my building plot.........
