Living the dream.
We're getting ready for becoming snowbirds again so the hunt for travel insurance has begun for this year
All the comparison sites max out @60 or so days but I actually got to speak to a real person at Coast Ins, stands back in amazement!
I explained we don't need cancellation insurance ( wait for the next available train ) we don't need luggage cover (on vehicle ins) mainly medical and repatriation cover. (y)
So with our declared medical problems (type two diabetics) it came out @£478 from 23rd Oct to 20th March

Anyone else got a company with real people to talk too, well apart from 'Im bein suvvern like :p

£3 a day not bad. But I do find these company’s are efficient when setting up but are they any good when you need them. Always do reviews worth their weight in gold. £478 is not a good deal if it doesn’t deliver

Paul @Badknee , I have just been pleasantly surprised when looking for travel insurance for our upcoming Winter trip.

I went through the usual search engines looking for a 5 month Single trip for a 71 & 68 yo with one medical condition declared and the cheapest came back as Boots at just under £500 compared with £288 for a similar trip last year.

I scrolled through Google some more and found Staysure who we have used in the past for 2&3 weeks holidays so gave them a try. They came back at £306 for a 6 month trip, so I thought that will do!
Got to the checkout and it asked if I had a promotional code? So I googled "Staysure promotional code" and it gave me "OCT15" valid for October 2018, Applied this code and it discounted another 15% down to £260.
So that's us sorted.(y)(y)

We have used insureandgo for the past few years .

Not sure if it will work for you and your requirements but when we planned to ski for longer than the policy allowed we were able to ring up and speak to an advisor and add an extra bit to the policy to suit our requirements.

I have used Insure and Go several times too. I found that Staysure wanted me to specify which countries I would be travelling to, and wanted £177 for Spain and Porugal, meaning I couldnt come back via France without paying extra.. I rang Insure and Go and got a Backpackers Policy for £106 to cover all of Europe for 6 months. Limited cancellation and possessions cover, but I don't need that.

Just be careful with Staysure, one of the T&C's in a annual policy we had was that you had to have a return crossing booked before you left the UK.

Try ringing the C&MC. They do a long stay policy and their medical questions are very straightforward.

You have to be a member of course but they might be happy to give you a quote on the assumption you would join if you took up the policy.
