Well, though we live out in the “ sticks “ we still come under a poor postcode of OL

Always been a thorn in my side....

I have a Classic Car business & the insurance premium is over £4500 a year so am used to high figures....

So....

Neither company would quote for keeping my MH inside my very secure Unit, CCTV, 24hr gated security etc.... yet happy to quote for it sat OUTSIDE on my DRIVE..... really

Ironically we have a lodge in Cartmel, Lake District where insurance is absolutely cheap as chips but our lodge doesn’t have a postcode

Insurance quotes seem to be totally random sometimes. We are moving to France permenantly this year and we thought about getting a new van in the UK then re registering in France in a few months. We got a quote for a new van in the U.K recently, most wanted about £500 with limited mileage but needed a proactive tracker fitted at a cost of around £900 and most will only give limited time for use abroad.
Then they add all the extras, which increases the premium substantially if you want them.
So, we decided to buy a French van, the same as we looked at in the U.K. ( it’s also £12K cheaper in France!)
Insurance works out at about £750, includes unlimited mileage, breakdown cover and all the add ons U.K. insurers want extra for including €3000 contents cover and cover for terrorism. Unlimited travel throughout Europe ( who knows what happens after Brexit though, we’ll just stay here!) no tracker or other security devices needed, I can loan the van out to anyone over 25 and they are covered.

The whole insurance-thing tests my patience at the best of times. That said, I still agree with Mike's @MikeD comment after our own recent insurance nightmare. Example:

1. New Airstream Colorado Trailer (£95k retail) but requiring a whole load of extra security bits = quote of £1,600.

2. New Frankia van (£160k) = quote of £880.

We've now binned the idea of having bigger vans and caravans weighing 2.7T and we're now moving to a PVC so that we can tour the Highlands & Islands. I'll be getting a quote today so wish me luck

Contact Milestone insurance brokers in Leeds.
They saved me over £500 last year and £600 this year.
Ask for Martin and say Jeremy advised you to speak to him.
They are specialist brokers so can sometimes get quotes cheaper than going direct to the company.
They may also be good for your classic car business.
They were nearly £600 cheaper than Flux for me this year.
