Does anyone know anything about the Hobby range of Motorhomes? I am just reading the July edition of MMM and there is a Hobby 600 which looks interesting but what sort of quality are they?

Thanks

Brian

Hi Brian,
Well I've had my hobby for a few years now and pleased as punch with it.
Drives well, very well appointed and warm in winter for full timing.
Few niggles like small spare parts are sometimes hard to find but having seen and met a few other owners, they are all of the same opinion.

There is a Hobby forum on here if you need any info.
happy trails,

Tony

Thanks Tony, I will have a look at the Hobby forum. What model and year do you have?

Cheers

We looked at Hobbys' the other weekend and I fell in love with one but out of my price range at £80+k. The only disappointment for me was that the oven was out of reach for me, so high up for short people and not even a full oven for that sort of price.

Hi Brian,
Mine's the tag-axle 2.8 diesel 2001 reg.
4500 kg gross
I was lucky enough to find one that had all the extras fitted when I bought it
and very reasonable mileage.
I get about 28/30 mpg.

I know these vehicles are expensive from new but good s/h ones are about.

I don't think you'd be disappointed if you do decide to go for one.

Do the tag axles cause any problems? I seem to avoid even considering them for some reason. Are there any problems in driving something over about 22/23 feet long?

Not all Hobbys are £80K! Mine was a mere £52K and some are even cheaper. Read my comments in the Hobby section of this forum and you'll see how superb mine has been. My oven is not high up either, it's under the sink.

I am a little confused about where the Hobby is made. I am fairly sure that on the Hobby web site it stated that they are made in France but on the Hobby forum it appears they are German made. Where are they made?

They are made in a superb modern factory in Schleswig-Holstein, which is north of Hamburg, not too far from the Danish border. They are most definitely German and in my experience the quality is superb - another league from my previous British 'van.
