Today i received my insurance renewal

insured with Caravanwise Ltd underwriten by NIG motor caravan scheme and have been with them for 3 years now.
i thought their price was reasonable but looking at the renewal in detail i noticed i only have 3 year NCB.
when i took out the original policy they said they would 'mirror' my cars full NCB but it appears they havent.
a Mirrored NCB doesnt earn any NCB in its own right.

price is £306 fully comp..

i've already told NFU i'm going to give them a chance at renewal and they said they will mirror my NCB as my car is insured with them.:thumb:

we are with NFU and can't fault them!
Gave us starter NCB for having other insurance. Just had to put my son on for 20 days as he's borrowing camper van and all they charged us was £10 extra - no admin fees they said. very good.
Only thing is to check their recovery options - they covered us last year but they only recover up to 5.5 mtr van and ours is 6.5mtr so have had to go to Frank Pickles for recovery insurance.

if memory serves, when i took car cover they said breakdown cover was included and not an option...you get it....end of....

weight/length/height not a problem as i have full cover with RAC Arrivals.:thumb:

one good point if you take insurance on monthly payments, their APR is only 1.5%...or was it 3.5% :Doh:and no up-front deposit.
big difference to the usual 8%/10%/13% and maybe 20% up-front deposit charged by others.

I was told when I was renewing and enquired about NCD, that 4 years equates to full NCD and that anything more was just for the record. Not sure how true and whether I was been spun a line, but the insurer I spoke to had no reason to lie as they could not insure me for a better price regardless.

Hi Pappa. I used Insurance Choice this year and they automatically gave me 8 years NCB.

They put it down to safe driver bonus. NCB'S dont make any sense these days, the original intent of the NCB scheme has long since gone.

They reduced my premiums by about £150.00. Give them a call, they are site sponsors so you get a discount, ask for it.

maybe so Jim, but all insurers still use the term NCB.
for insurers a safe driver is a driver who has No Claims so is given a bonus discount... No Claim Bonus...
how do they ascertain you are a safe driver if it doesnt rely on your claims history ?
just because you haven't made a claim doesn't make you a safe driver...just a lucky one !!:winky:
SDB is just another name for it. :thumb:

just as 'thinking out of the box' is modern speak for an unusual idea.

Since 2008 & many years tugging
I just changed to Comfort, £293 which included £20 to cover satellite system & £57 for European Breakdown, basic policy was £216.
They don't mention NCB or ask for if you have any.
