Just a short thankyou to Marilyn & Steve (Scran) and Chris & Bill (Tick59) for being good funster companions for the weekend at Ambleside. Saturday bwas a bit of a let down, weather wise, but other than that it was fine. Smashing little venue & we should do it again sometime

We are thinking of going to ambleside on thursday for 1 night and wondered if you stayed at the aire motorhome site and what you thought of it.

think you will want to stay longer it is really nice great views

Nice enough site if you have full on board facilities. There is a freshwater supply & the "Elsan" point is a little "Heath Robinson" but operational.
The views are great and you couldn't ask for better access to Ambleside.
There is a hard standing area, but we found the grass section OK.
Hope you enjoy it as much as we did

Hi Gerry we are sat there now
Brilliant site:thumb::thumb::thumb:
£6 for vans under 6 metres long
£8 for vans over 6 metres
Tap water available and the Elsan point is still work in progress but usable
If its wet there are 15 hard standing pitches available
If its dry there is another area with plenty of choice
Its just a short walk the town centre , and we have just sussed the Buses to Grasmere and Hawkshead

I must admit I did not know what to expect when we headed for here, I was thinking it was going to be a bit of old waste land, but its not, nice and level site with great views
