What temperature is your fridge and freezer? (1 Viewer)

Ok I know the answers will vary depending on how high your knob is...on gas.

Please can you state this and if your fridge and freezer is full or half full etc.
Please only reply if you have just the normal size fridge with freezer top box.

I think ours still might have a problem despite cleaning the burner. Flue seemed clean too. Thx

Our Dometic is running on electricity at the moment, facing East. The freezer is around -10 C and the fridge is about 5 C. The knob is as high as it goes. It is only this good because we completely defrosted it a couple of weeks ago. And it is about half full.

It was on gas for a few hours this morning aas i forgot to plug it in when I got back from buying fuel. I didn’t check the Temperature, but nothing melted!
Before we defrosted it, it was on gas For 5 days.freeezer was fine, but fridge was up at 0. BUT, there was about 2 inches of ice on the inside. Hence the defrost

Normally run on 3 or 4 depending on weather and external fans running. Freezer runs between -7 to -16. Fridge about5- 6 at the top and 8-9.5 ¾ of the way down. If I turn off my internal fan the temp ¾ down rises to 11-12°. Makes a bit difference how loaded the fridge is, ours is normally jammed full.

I did some tests when installing my internal fan see here but only ½ loaded it and a lot of the load was empty plastic containers.

The big problem with Motorhome fridges is that unlike a domestic fridge which is cooler at the bottom motorhome ones are much colder at the top as due to the shallow depth the air does not circulate very well, also the cooling fins are right at the top.
Most people measure the temperature at the top and think it's doing well at 5° expecting the bottom of the fridge to be colder not realising it's warmer and around 12° at the bottom.

Static fridges are almost always cooler at the bottom.

*Aim for +5c
*Expect a differential of 3-4 degrees
*Try to put cold food in
*The ice box/freezer box and fridge freezers can suffer from low ambient
*a small countersink computer fan sikkalfexed to the Evaporator fins can help air distribution in the fridge section (various ways of wiring)
*In hot weather , condenser fans will help.

We were told by a Dometic engineer that the fridge freezers fitted to motorhomes and caravans, work far more efficiently all year round set at 2 to 3 - not the 8 it goes up to. All we do is turn it on (either gas or elec) the night before we go way, empty and not put anything in till the next morning. Straight from our household one (or the supermarket one) into the van one.

It's worked very well for us the last 5 years winter and summer.

I would suggest otherwise, it’s physics.

Colder air heavier than warm.

Some models may have a separater shelf that keeks the lower veg area warmer

In theory yes but it no work in crap Dometic fridges.

Here are my results when playing about with an internal fan, the results look far better than in praticeas I only ½ loaded the fridge.
In practice with the fridge full top tends to be around 5° and bottom 8 - 9°. Bottom was actually measured at the back of the fridge ¾ of the way down.

Women don't understand men, in our tugging days before we left home i told her I'd loaded the fridge. We arrived at a site with 2 young kids in tow, she opened the fridge door and had a right go at me.
I still don't understand why, there was beer, wine, gin, tonic, ok I forgot the food so what.
