I see that Google are now going into job recruitment. Using their huge platform they will offer searches and placements for jobs local and worldwide. No idea how it will work yet but I'm sure it will be controlled from start to finish through Googles own secure network at a price that will put other online recruiters out of business.....Something I heard on the radio news today.:)

We live in a capitalist democracy. It’s called competition. It’s healthy when things get shook up like this.

True enough but the down side is, many high streets even local shops are now a thing of the past along with their employees. OK google can find you a new job but possibly with less money and more hours.

Is it competition when your so big and with money that you can setup and sweep all other into the gutter ?
Yes

But if it's a better system what's the problem.

One of our sons has recently been searching for jobs and the huge amount of different companies ...some of who are the same company and some who advertise a job that isn't a job but a training course you have to pay for... is massively confusing and imo a bit of a con.

Companies will have a larger selection and be able to recruit the right staff cheaper. Present recruitment agencies will have to specialise and or up their game. Just like the virtual online estate agent forces the bricks and mortar agents to provide a better service or die. We all win.

Yes browsing bookstores was nice, If I’m waiting while Sian shops she knows she’ll find me in Waterstones. But...give me amazon every time, cheaper, peer reviewed, no waiting days for orders to come in the pop back into town. Amazon is better. Recruiting is likely about to get a lot better.

Yes, absolutely and it’s almost always for the better in the long run. Shops and businesses that offer good service at the right price that the public wants will always survive, if they die there is always someone to blame.

I really hate to say this but I sort of agree, as far as jobs not sure how we are going to keep the nation employed if it all happens on line using warehouses with minimal staff and delivery drivers who cant spare the time for a toilet break.
Your own multimillion pound organization as an example, half a dozen employees and a server...job done.;):)

I hope that Yvette's nieces husband who has spent the last 4 years building a recruitment business up from scratch working all hours falls into the what the public want's category. (y)

If he’s offering great service I’m sure he’ll do well. I’m guessing but Google’s effort will likely be big, automated and impersonable. Plenty will want the exact opposite.

What about Maplins Jim? Boo hoo, used to spend hours in there, the only thing to browse on the high street these days are hair dressers, nail bars, pie shops and charity shops, and all the good stuff goes to auction sites without getting near a shop (that’s in the charity shops not the pie shops!)

Have you heard about the new GoogleMotorhomes forum ? No subscription, free nights at all major campsites, big discounts on ferries and all qualifying males get a free blow job on the Chunnel.

It's already happening. Facebook are getting into the “forum” business as are Google. Facebook groups have killed countless thousands of forums. facebook are about to roll out further forum like functions within groups later this year. There are still plenty of forums around but static or in decline. Only the best, and those in narrow niches have continued to grow.

As previously stated "businesses that offer good service at the right price that the public wants will always survive" and on that basis I see no reason for MotorhomeFun.co.uk to falter as it sails it's present course. (y)

With the low wages now days in the lower end of the market , which I am guessing is the bulk of recruitment/agency work I would of thought that there was not a huge profit margin anyway.

"Niche" sums up the future of Brexit Britain. Rolls/Bentley/Jaguar/Scotch sort of thing.

The whole philosophy and format of FB seems at odds with constructive forums, it seems more in line with me, me, me, look how big my MH is. Trivial. But as the two thumbs generation replaces the olde fartes you may have need to worry.

As an employer, its great paying a recruitment agent 15% of the candidates annual salary for sending a CV over. Any candidate worth their salt would have made the effort to come and ask if we had any jobs.
A lot of firms employ people through the agency for 6 months before taking them on as it’s easier to get rid off agency workers. I guess it depends if it’s worth 15%.

No different from when the Poles invaded flooding the Building trade, good trades survived lesser ones didn't fair so well.

Never feel sorry for recruitment agencies. They are leeches.

When I was contracting they were taking £15 - £20 an hour off me.

Would you have had a job without them though ?
Yes, in the world of contractors many guys secure contracts through their own network but are typically steered to a preferred supplier recruitment agency to drive the contract engagement - hence they get garage loads of commission for doing Jack.....

Again in the world of contracting, recruitment agents are typically of low quality and anything to move the quality bar up the maturity curve is welcome in my view - so shake ‘em up Google

My point was, yes recruitment agencies may take a heavy cut but Yorick had a choice and it would appear he took work knowing the chunk taken by the recruitment agent, so what was his alternative at the time, job or no job.

We all have a choice and typically if you are not prepared to align to the preferred supplier agency the alternative is to not engage with them and lose the contract - depending on ones financial situation you have a choice......
