I read a lot of threads containing queries which I don't post on as I haven't got the experience or specialised knowledge
equally there are the threads where I can contribute ...in 35 years , 40 countries on 4 continents ...you must learn SOMETHING .. ok , you can be out of date sometimes

but my pet hate is that people ask , get replies and suggestions , and then NOTHING , no...yes it worked or no it didn't

it's like a book with the last chapter torn out !

My pet "Dislike"

I agree with above, I try to contribute as and when I can etc and there is a huge amount of knowledge out in Fun world

Going off the thread a bit but there are two words I "Dislike"

"HATE" and "I'm Starving"

Too much hate in this world already and "hate" is too strong a word to say if one dislikes something but we hear it all the time and very few people in this country are starving, hungery sometimes but never starving!!!.

Any words that you dislike and why??

Most swear words, annoys me that it has now become so common-place that a lot of people don't even notice it, especially when you hear the youngsters doing it.

i agree and using 'f,b,t,p.c words really just shows up their lack of english language, woe betide any of my daughters that dare swear in my hearing and they know it, have the same problem with an 11yr old grandson who turns round and tells you all his mates talk like that - not telling you what he got told suffice to say he sits there very quiet in my house these days when visiting. (it did contain soap and some other stuff - and he knows i would do as i say)

got to agree,

also annoying when you post a detailed reply and not even a thank you ..

and people who can't be arsed reading the OP and the answers, press the 'last post button' then steam in with either a duplicate or a totally irrelevant post..

Swear words

I agree with swearing being my pet hate too. There are plenty of words out there to use instead.

A friends daughter (21) goes on Facebook a lot and rants & raves with all sorts off swear words. Not pleasant & since I took her to one side and rebuked her she now moderates her language. I don't think she realised how offensive it was . Unfortunartely children copy parents/adults and if they swear at home etc they mock them.
NOT in my house!:thumb:

I hate all those people going around gassing and then robbing motorhomers on service stations abroad. What's more... they never get caught.

I also hate it when my smilies don't work ;-)

There was a case last year where a guy parked over 2 spaces in a car park as the spaces were narrow and got a ticket, he took the council to court on the grounds he had paid for a space and it was reasonable to expect it to be large enough to be able to open his car door and get in & out of his car. He won.:thumb:

I don't like swear words, as they're usually either no thought or just an excuse for not thinking, i.e. laziness. Even worse, though, are so many professionals who use phrases like "to be honest" when they're lying through their teeth, or my favourite hate at the moment, the TV weather girl who begins every other sentence with "As For". She's known as "Asfer" round here

However, language and grammar certainly do change. I use verbal constructions that would have shocked Loose Arse, sorry, Lucas, my English teacher. (A soft C is so much nicer, my dear - he was an old queen.) Sentences without verbs. Yes. Even single word sentences, to punch a point home, or punch home a point. Sometimes I even use a preposition to end a sentence up with! (Shock, Horror!)

But the message is more important than how it's delivered. If ZZZ is telling a funny story, or 1234 is saying how to fit air suspension, I don't care a flying something or other how it's spelled or written. It's the fun of the funsters.

Ooooh, I hate anyone who isn't just like me.

As for swearing, I despise all the mouth-breathing, low-brow, cheg-fettling, squimp-munting, wotch-kolting excuses for humanity who refuse to limit their vocabulary to what a publishing company decides is valid.

Get a grip, you spenktonkers.

Not guilty, m'lud! Well, not very guilty, my handwriting is desperate even on screen.

Loose-arse, of blessed memory, reckoned I was functionally illegitimate.

I dislike it when people do not READ my posts. Sometimes they appear to be taken the wrong way. I now attempt to take a deep breath and remind myself that there will have been many who read correctly what I say, I hope so anyway! Jane

Bob'n'Jane,
to ease your pain,
one of the wonders of Lord Jim's website is that Funsters do not stick to the point.* You never know where the worm will turn next. So, what seems to the original writer a careless or even a discourteous response may have nothing to do with what you wrote!

* I might even have been guilty of this myself, and if this has ever happened in your case, I apologise from the bottom of my heart and the heart of my bottom.
