When I try to upload a zip file to the album I get this message .

Has anyone tried this ?

Not tried it myself but the gallery upload page says that the only allowed file types are "jpg,jpeg,png".

I think that means that even if the individual pics are those formats the software will just pick up on the fact that a zip file has been submitted and reject the file.

ScotJimLand,

Sorry if you thought I was saying specifically about your problem. I was just providing some alternate evidence for Jim/Bryan for them to be able to narrow down the issue that is affecting you and others.

It was in no way a "dig" at you - the Jim in my post refers to Jim(jam)

Hi Jim, I am just reading some help files, and it seems some others have had problems when they use a mac zipping programme. How are you zipping the files Jim. I will PM you with my email, please email the zip to me if you can,

I have a contact who uses a Mac and sometimes sends me zipped photo files. Sometimes, but not always for some reason, the program generates some sort of folder as well as the photo file within the zip file. I suppose that might be the problem.

The reason that the ZIP file fails is because there are __MACOSX folders present. I have learned from help files today that the pictures have resource forks (whatever they are) and that this is a legacy of the OS 9 days but still supported under OS X

Most unzip utils don't recognise this __MACOSX folder and neither does our photo upload utility by the looks of it:Sad:

I am told that the best way to solve it is to zip your files either with DropStuff and uncheck the 'Preserve Macintosh content' setting in it's preferences first.
Or use a utility to remove resource forks from files you wish to create a archive from, take a look at some over at http://www.macupdate.com/ or Link Removed to find such tools

Maybe some of you Macintoshers will know a better way

Hope this helps::bigsmile:
