I was never a lover of Fiat based motorhomes, preferring the old school Mercedes based vans. I was a little concerned when I bought the Hymer 754 as it is a big van and I thought it would be hard work with a 2.8 engine. How wrong I was, the thing pulls like a train and is quite frugal on fuel with the tdi engine. The layout suits us well with the low bed and the only fault I can find is no separate shower. Am beginning to think this will be a stayer.

But Mr Snowbird, I have a 660 (with new batteries) on Portuguese plates... so much more practical.

JJ

Its cheap enough for spares, and its a 94 with full cooker for the pies :).

We have now arrived in Bacharach and me being a lucky so and so have got a front line pitch on the Stellplatz overlooking the Rhine. Am happy to sit here watching the boat traffic for a few days. As its cooks day off I am taking her for dinner at the Bacharach Hof restaurant tonight. I have to keep reminding her just how lucky she was when she met me :). Now just for @yodeli as i do not want Franki getting frustrated, (the poor girl has enough to put up with @JJ). Here are a few photos of

the van. Note there is no dropdown bed, instead it was built with storage lockers.

:rofl::rofl::rofl: He's gonna love that bit Dave!

Love the van! Much better lay out in my view than the one you had when we met up in Wales , by a lake, at that Funster 's beautiful little campsite if you recall. I can't remember her username , but I think she was called Eileen (or may be Helen ... gosh, forgive me if you read me)

Pah!

All well and good but it's still a woosie, slip a lot in the wet, front wheel drive, weekend away on campsites, part time motorhomer's van...

Can't stop to chat right now.

My people are holding a "surprise" 40th birthday party for one of the girls, and I have been told by my minder that I have to attend...

Hey @JJ. What do you think of my neighbours choice of motorhome, complete with DDR country code badge. I quite like it.
