Funster home and abroad remember when you are touring Scotland this Summer......or from 1st of May.

Scotland is intoducing minimum alcohol priceing. So get your priorities sorted and make sure you you have plenty of your favourite tipple.

Don't worry about your favourite malt or premium spirits. It is only going to affect the basics like beer and plonk and basic spirits

Even us Scottish Funsters should get the stocks in before May 1st

Edit - minimum 50p per unit of alcohol.

Here are typical price rises, I bet off licences and stores just over the border into England will love the increase in sales. Or maybe the Scottish government are planning border and custom controls next :D2
  • Blended Scotch Whisky – up by £2.75 to £14
  • Glen’s Vodka – up 65p to £13.15
  • Frosty Jack’s – up £7.76 to £11.25
  • Buckfast – unchanged, £7.99
  • Red wine – up 96p to £4.15
  • 20 cans of Tennent’s lager – up £5 to £18
  • Prosecco – unchanged, £6
  • 20 x 440ml pack of Strongbow would double

I’m stocking up already, doing the booze run to Berwick every couple of months. This country has gone to the dogs. More tax, less booze.:banghead:

It really won't make any difference.
Something like 20 bottles of Bud or Stella for £11 in supermarkets......that's 55p per bottle which will be less than one unit of alcohol working on around two units per pint of beer.

Its going crazy I thought we were united and all equal within the United Kingdom. Scottish people voted no but yet the SNP are pushing this huge divide. First the tax, which for some is not a few pennies, but a significant lump of cash, the large increase in council tax for the top bands, now the alcohol charge, next is the plastic bottle tax, which is fine to say it is returned when you return the bottle, but you need the extra cash up front to buy it in the first place.
The SNP are out of control IMHO
Interestingly, Sir Ian Wood has publicly said he is in the process of swapping his mansion in Aberdeen and his holiday estate in Devon around so Devon becomes his main residence and Aberdeen will be his holiday home. That way the SNP will not see a penny of his taxes. He is of course a long time supporter of the Conservatives (hence Knighthood)

Likewise we only live 20 minutes from Asda at Carlisle so we food shop , buy our booze , cheaper fuel and LPG all in Cumbria .
Only think I pay in Scotland is Council Tax , fed up of the SNATZI's and the way there trying to control our lives .

Can you not get your booze free on prescription, for medicinal reasons ? :)
Don't alcoholics in Scotland, that are on benefits, already get extra payments because of their addiction........seriously.

@Bobby22 He's teasing me, no-where does he mention my tipple, Babycham and coke and please don't tell me they've messed with the price of Grappa.
Your coke will have the new sugar tax:D but your normal tipple won't be affected, Bucky is premium bevvy for neds in Scotland:D

What you drink Mr @Popeye isn't in the firing line. Only the poor old beer and plonk drinkers will get hammered. (sic) or ( hic)

Make sure you buy yours in Scotland and keep our prescriptions free.:D

Scotland is being turned into a Socialist Nanny State by the SNP. My Council Tax has shot up this year and my income tax bill is set to take a big hike. Fortunately the minimum pricing doesn't affect any of my tipples.

Which do you think should replace them, Labour who carved the country up into party fiefdoms and ruined the country or the Tories who will create even greater divisions, just look at how divided that party is

Don't normally get into political discussions but its Ruth Davidson all the way for me. She is the only politician bith at Westminster and Holyrood I can listen too, she make total sense in my mind. I never thought I would find myself ever supporting the conservatives, I remember the days campaigning against them with pure hatred when they introduced Section 28. We travelled the country demonstrating and campaigning, we were two young students with fire in our stomachs. How the times have changed, I now find myself supporting the Conservatives, but more unbelievable than that a gay conservative. I never thought I would see either. I should add my support for Ruth has absolutely nothing to do with her being gay.
Scotland, as others have said is a political mess.

If she had / wins a seat I think she will be the next leader of the Conservative party and more so the next Prime minister.

Whilst I agree the Conservatives are in disarray and are making a pigs ear of running the country the SNP's main aim to to divide the United Kingdom which would only lead to even greater problems if it ever happened.
