Hi
Broken Link Removed
Bought one of these yesterday at the NEC show really good and easy to fit and remove
Really useful as you don’t have to remove the glove box

40 quid for a cup holder:eek: when you have a table in front of the seats anyway. Later vans have a cup holder instead of a glove box ours have never seen a cup, thinking of fitting a glove box instead.

Looks great, pleased to hear they work, been thinking of getting one for a while, however, I was worried they might not fit well or rattle. Looks like you can still use the glove box as well.

Wow! Can you send me plans? How does it attach?
All it is is a piece of 12mm thick plywood which is cut to make a tight fit into the open glove box and then cover in in the thin carpet that you use on van walls when doing a self build.
It’s quite easy if you cut a piece of cardboard first to the right shape and then use it as a template. Then find a couple of plastic beakers suitable for the cup holders.

TO THE BAT SHED!
2 pieces of 3x2 cut to 5 inches:

Then 1/2" ply on top! It's nearly level and will be solid when screwed up

Hmm just what we need. I too declare my allegiance to the “£40 for a cup holder” Club of Disbelief.

I shall get the toolbox out immediately.

Has anybody got a scrap of thin wall carpet they don't need? I want to cover the cup holder but I don't want (too tight:whistle:) to buy a 2 metre piece. :D

We have one of the mirrorguard cup holders ( bargain at Jaw's auction a couple of years ago !) works really well. The add makes it seem that you can still use the glove box. You can, but only after removing the cup holder tray and all the accumulated junk and finding somewhere to put it.

I’m on with this one. Board purchased. Cup holders on route from China! Just arguing about which piece of wardrobe contents will be sacrificed for the covering. Will post some pics once it’s done.
Might even keep the template - could be money to be made churning these out for funster rally sales.... hmmm

Looks good that stuff. I’ve bought some black non slippy stuff to cover with. Then I’ll be able to pop the phone or pork pie on it without slippages. My Chinese drop in cups are looking biggish though. Might need larger thermal mugs now darn it......

Looking at those photo's there will be a few hyper active 'funsters' on the road this year. Hopefully the drinks Sugar Tax wont cost more than the cup holders in the end. I could have also said ' have you gone bananas ' but I wont push my luck any further. :drink: They are all very good ideas, though.

Cans and bottles sit OK just in the holes on mine so I'm not putting any cups in.

Voila le prototype. Very lightweight cardboard and foam, with black non slip matting exterior, held with tape de masking and ornated with Beijing depositories. The design is by House of Martin and the upholstery by good luck.

Might not fit though lol

Boom! Factory fitted! Total cost to make... 3 quid (for the felt)
20180405_145852.jpg

The felt is really sticky and stretchy so it pushes down and sticks into the can holes neatly. Holds the cans perfectly with just slight resistance to pull them out
. IPod touch will live in the middle.
