im a not so newbie
I tried an online quote last night with Comfort for our A Class.
I had to have a call back today because she is stored on a non cassoa site.
Comfort called and went through a couple of things and asked if there was a separate compound where our Moho is kept with a permanent locked gate.
This isn't the case but the main gate is locked at 7pm. Was told that the underwriter Aviva would insure due to no compound and locked gate.
I was a bit surprised as we are insured and underwritten by Aviva at the moment.

Has any one else had similar with Comfort?

Can anyone suggest an insurer that would be happy with a non Cassoa site.

Thanks

Not sure about the CASSOA site but Comfort are underwritten by Aviva

We insured last year with them and this year they have quoted us just £1 more
but if we reduce our mileage to £10k from unlimited then we save another £80

I guess we would be about the same time for insurance, I just got my renewal from comfort and I increased the mileage to unlimited just before Xmas as I knew I would go over on our winter trip and had to pay another £8o ish, the quote I got now is £470 with B/D so I’ll be ringing around to see what else I can get....

Last year I paid £306 for I think 15k a year...?

That’s what they are for.(y)

They are not designed as decorations for the driveway.

We also cover high mileages. Next week we embark on a trip expected to cover 4K miles. Following that we will use the motorhome, from our base in France, to travel through Europe where-ever the mood takes us.

O.K. We are retired, and that helps enormously.:)

What's the point in having one if you don't use it. We are off on a 6 week trip in a couple of weeks I expect to do 2500-3500 miles, then in June a 4 week trip and September another 6 week trip.

LOL ours still has bits of Spain on it

But we did the NEC yesterday and got loads of quotes for our insurance
Not one came anywhere near to Comforts quote for 10k miles

the nearest was £780 and they offer an almost identical package except they use the AA fleet services instead of the RAC for recovery
Comfort said £480 for unlimited mileage

Looks like I’ll be staying with comfort,
I rang NFU wouldn’t insure unless I had some other insurance with them...!
C&MC £667 with £500 excess without B/D
CaravanGuard only allow you max 15k miles a year... the quote on that was £879..

So Comfort is looking great at £470 with unlimited miles and B/D cover..(y)

Our van is insured with comfort and is kept at a non-CASSAO storage when we are at home
Ditto no issues at all In fact when I moved it from parents drive to the storage site I saved £100

Thats looking good then.
Im still trying different companies at the mo, tried a couple at the NEC today :)

I’d be interested in what you come up with, the cover with comfort was better in benefits then the rest and the small print clearer...

I suppose it would be a lot less for me if I bought the mileage down to 10k a year, about £330 probably....

In answer to your op they asked me if the Motorhome is behind a gate or locked fence on my drive.

I did use a CASSOA Gold site, there were 2 breakins, rubbish fencing poor lighting , reported all this to CASSOA, not in the slightest bit interested. My current site has 24/7 manning and of course we have 24/7 access .Good hard standing and huge bays all for £10.00 per week

We were with Comfort and stored the van in my local CaSsoA Gold Site. The site was broken into and four vans affected - wheels stolen, internal bits taken and doors forced. Aviva we're brilliant and restored the van to it's original condition.
Comfort increased the premium by FIVE times at the next renewal so I insured elsewhere, three years ago. However, I've recently tried again with Comfort who said they would accept me as long as i didn't use my local CaSSoA Gold site.
