Are credit/debit cards readily acceptable in Greece at supermarkets, restaurants and fuel stations. We are due to make our way to Greece this weekend, just hoping the currency rate of exchange improves3.

We had no problems using our Revolut cards in fuel stations and large supermarkets, whilst in Greece last month. As Lenny said, the restaurants prefer you to use cash. We only stayed on one campsite (and that was just for 2 nights) the whole month we were there and they willingly accepted cards.

May is a lovely time of year in Greece. Lots of wild flowers. We've spent a lot of time on the Mani peninsula but not in the MH. Love that area.

In order to crack down on tax fraud by businesses not declaring earnings on cash transactions, the European Troika monitoring the Greek Government insisted the Government made a law to force most businesses, including tourism, Doctors, Lawyers et al, to install card terminals. It is now an offence to refuse to take cards at businesses that have terminals.

If they refuse your card - walk out. They can do nothing.

With a username of Petros and an avatar that looks like a rather skinny Demis Rusos I wouldn't think you had to ask.

What is baffling though is, you've been member since 2011 yet your username is still in green......reserved for new members.

@Jim ?

It was very very hot! We were there for our Sons Wedding and spent a lot of time in the pool.View attachment 214719

Umm - that seems proof enough - how about night time temperatures? Although difficult maybe to judge as not in your MH.

Reason for asking is that I’m planning to head to Crete and on to Santorini as soon as the weather there is good - am thinking end March/early April time.

What is the general expriences of Funsters who have travelled there please and when does it get a bit too hot for travelling in the MH?

@Petros - have you done any research on these lines? and by the way I don’t think your going to see much change at all in the exchange rate - it’s been hanging around for a couple of months or at current rate - maybe take some scrap gold with you? :)
