85Ah he says wishing he'd bought all the Viagra tablets he gets offered in emails.

It powers virtually nothing. Occasionally our ebike battery chargers. Occasionally a laptop with a very demanding power supply.

ebikes are a killer, the two batteries represent half the total capacity of the leisure battery, but it's quieter to drain the leisure battery and boost it with the genny than to run the genny for the time the batteries take to charge.

100w PSW. Runs from 2 x 100 amp batteries and charges phones, laptops and DAB radio. Too small to run a hairdryer.

300 watt,off 3x110amp batteries ex UPS, charged by 3x80 watt BP solars.
Only use the inverter to run the TV & DVD,Laptop and phone chargers are dedicated 12 volt so no wasted juice.
Never nead EHU with this system,though a little expensive to install, its paid for itself not having the EHU.

this is an expensive unit and would be difficult to justify for holiday use, I was however fortune to buy it second hand for £300

hitched up to 4 x 110ah batteries, main use is TV / sat box, laptop and camera battery charging.

Off EHU I use a Honda EU20I for charging.

1 x 300watt inverter feeding 2 double 13 amp sockets for TV,Sky Box, Sat Box,DVD
1 x 800watt inverter switched on as and when needed, feeding one 13 amp socket, hair dryers tools etc

1 x on board 5.5 kva Gen set (Rarely used)

40 and 20 amp charger, 40 amp used on generator (clarke ig1000, honda eu10 clone) both chargers used together on mains,
90 amp alternator on engine purely for house batteries, stock 55 amp one for engine battery,

things i run, 1500 watt centeral vacuum, 900 watt microwave, washing machine used without electric heater (i feed it warm water) hairdryer, vinyl graphics cutter.
everyting else runs on 12 volts,

Well I feel left out as I dont have one at all!

All our stuff runs of 12v so dont need an invertor and cant imagine ever needing one.

1000/2000W 230volt + 1500/3000W 110volt driven by 6 x 100ah AGM + 2 x 105ah LA. Run Laptops, TV's, Satellite, Video, Hoover, Toaster, Kettle etc, etc.

Thanks all mine was already fitted when I bought it and is a 2500w skytronic which is way over the top for running tv and receiver. It runs off 3 - 110a 12v batts which are charged by hook up or intellicharge .

I agree with barryd!!!

I do own a 300w inverter, but its inconvenient to use and (unless I connect direct to the battery) my van wiring is only rated at 100w.

My computer, portable radio and most chargers run directly off 12 volt, which is far more efficient anyway. The odd device I have that needs mains to charge can wait until I have EHU.

In our last long trip (3 months in spain) the inverter was not used at all, so next time I will leave it at home to save weight.

300w at 12 volts is drawing 25 amps, a 100ah battery would not last long at this rate!

I dont have a genny or solar either. Im dead anal about battery power. Even use a titchy really low power 12v tv when not on EHU. LED lights etc. I find that if we move every couple of days we never run out of power. one x 110ah battery.

I just cant think of anything I would ever need 240v for really. Its nice to be on hookup so you dont have to worry about it and we get the chance to roll out the big telly! (yes dont laugh) but im not fussed really.

Hair dryers, microwaves and hoovers are definately banned from our van

8 of 88ah SLA batteries and a 2000w inverter powers espresso machine, hair drier, charges laptops, old on board CRT etc etc

Used almost constantly unless we are on EHU over 10A; most euro sites cant handle the inrush of the transformer so trip out.
therefore we only plug in the smaller of our three chargers to the EHU and run the inverter to power everything else.

we rarely free camp for more than three days so driving or parking in sites is plenty to charge the battery bank
would have like solar panels for the four weeks se sat on a beach in sicily last month though.
