The Honda 22i is so quiet that no one could complain about it being used so is much better than solar panels which don't really work

Well I have a nice new Champion and it’s been in the garage for 12 months never needed to use it the solar panel seems to keep us charged.

Solar doesn't work in the shade or when there's no sun. We have a Honda 1.0 in theory to charge 2 gel batteries , used once ,on that occasion I asked the bloke next to us before I switched it on for & hour at 11am. No problem. Been away 7 months though. Responsible use of a quiet generator is ok for me.

Slightly higher output than their last offering...other than that the specs look much the same....
Quality piece of kit , but at a price... I wouldn' be Without mine ...essential at times if you are away during winter and off grid for more than a day or so imo.. but if you want to live in a dark cold van I suppose you could last a bit longer.. (y)

I have owned a Honda eu20i for several years but I doubt it has more than 20 hours running time on it. Fantastic bit of kit. Expensive yes but reliable when needed

Ahhhhh LarryHappyChappy, but I have both, such choice. :)

When we had our last power cut at home, I started the 5.5kw Onan. Our bungalow, was lit up like a sparking tree in our dark black village. The power was out for nine ours and we made tea and cooked a few meals for some of our elderly residents, so it does have its occcasional smelly, noisy, usage. :giggler:

Ok' I ll bite,
Generators should not be allowed unless they are on A frames and used for the sole purpose of distributing air to keep you alive during a gas attack and they should contain a secret apartment for your rolex.

Sounds reasonable to me.....

i picked up a used yamaha 3kw generator on ebay just before christmas for £40. hopefully it will not need using, but its sat there fully serviced in case of power cuts. Like most such purchases, if you buy one you wont need it, but better that than the other way round

last power cut we had, we moved into the van for the day

So, Eddie, are you selling and installing stuff that does not work.

In our last house, a rural location we never missed a winter without at least one power cut and the genny kept the heating , lights freezers etc running , insurance eh :D

When I did the self build back in the 90`s. I put in a split Fuse Board, the smaller section of which was dedicated to run some lighting and Power sockets as well as the Central Heating and security. It was connected to the main board via a 3 position centre off switch. During "outages" the supply was from an input socket in the garage, and supplied by the R-V generator. So all the fridges/freezer and C-H worked and limited lighting all from 4KW.(y)
