Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
I've never wild camped there, but never heard of anyone being asked to move on. It's a beautiful & magnificent spot. Now over to Loch Lomond etc there is a definite policy in place now.

Never stopped there but have saw several vans there, don’t think you would have a problem. Nice view down the glen and there are a few other good stops in the area.

Can't see a problem. Saw an entire film crew stopped there once.
Don't imagine anyone will move you on.
And there's always the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar/Cafe, can't remember any height barrier and if you arrive lateish and leave earlyish, well fair do's.

I reckon those gates get closed every night, so you would be locked in at best, not a nice feeling if you needed to get out maybe (y)

I wouldn`t bother asking the council, if you ask they`ll just say no overnight parking allowed.
But if you just turn up, it`s unlikely there will be anyone there to move you on............

Is it still a private toll road? it was last time I went, if it reverts to free overnight you might be OK just on the road, but somehow I suspect it is all locked down at night

Rest and be thankful , now a big no no , wild camped there many time but now moved on , burger van got his pitch reserved ! But no problem , cause park up there admire the view even in low cloud base, then when ready move on down road less than a mile and park up for nite peaceful . Scotland I love you . Sooner or later the true highlands will be the only place for wild camping

I don’t think folk are reading this thread. It is NOT in Scotland but Wales.

I think the title of the thread makes it confusing and the op should have added “ Wales“ to the title.

There is really only one true place called Rest And Be Thankful and it ain’t a cafe.

No wonder there’s confusion.

The OP took me back to the first holiday I had with parentals after my 17th Birthday.
We were camping in Lochgoilhead (them in the back of an Austin A60 Estate complete with Swish curtainrailing, me in a tent,) which is off a road at the top of the Rest and be Thankful pass.

It was where I drove (from Lochgoilhead to Corrow) for the very first time. For old times sake I went on Google maps last night. I couldn't get over how much building has gone on beside the Loch in the last fifty years. Forget Rob Roy not recognising the place. I didna either.

We were in the cafe on the Great Orme back in October with the toad .... beautiful views, VERY windy, nice hot chocolate ... pretty certain there are signs & gates preventing overnighting.

The road around the G Orme is one way toll road.

That takes me back to a 1958 holiday in Llandudno. Seeing Randolph Turpin's training base and seeing Billy Wright (England football captain) in a car in the company of Joy Beverley of the Beverley Sisters (who he married three weeks later)
