Portsmouth to Santander today has been delayed due to bad weather. Hope this isn't a bad omen. We are all packed and ready to go. We received a txt which seems very efficient as according to the website all is running as normal. Now that I've written it down I sense a touch of paranoia developing, is it a trick? Or is that just because I am impatient to get going?

If you are travelling on the Cap Finistere we are just coming into port . It was a bit choppy last night but we woke up to a much nicer day and it’s blue skies now. Have a great trip.

@Jenben Queueing traffic and long delays due to earlier accident, two vehicles involved on M275 Northbound before M27, congestion on M275 to A3 Stamshaw Road / A2047 Kingston Crescent / Wharf Road (Rudmore Roundabout). Travel time is around 45 minutes. All lanes have been re-opened.

@carolyn M27 Rownhams now all clear

If you live to a typical age of 85, that’s 745,110 hours adjusted to take account of leap years. I wouldn’t worry about losing one hour :)

So many people knock biscay. We cross on Brittany Ferries (mainly Cap Finistere). As many as 20 times a year.

I would only need one hand to count the very bad crossings. Last one was In October last year. Sunday 2 night crossing. We could not dock in Roscoff as usual. So we sheltered in Brest for the whole day. When we got to southern Biscay in the middle of the night, I was literally tossed out of bed. We were right on the bow in a Commodore cabin. That was a bit rough.

Nothing like the Storm Force ELEVEN we had in the North Sea in January 2005 mind. Our Daughters said that the Christmas Holiday in Norway was the best one they had ever had. And one they will never forget.

It's like a millpond today, much calmer than the channel although that was ok. Looking forward to getting there. I have the coordinates of a few places 1,2,3 hrs from Santander so we'll just see how we go depending on the weather.

Parked up at Sobradiel services for the night, @Brisey recommended it. Loads of lorries, 2 cars and us. If we don't sleep much we will just crack on down to Benidorm.

There is a very good service area at Ferreruela de Huerva on the motorway from Zaragoza to Valencia if you don’t settle at Sobradiel. I usually stop there and have not been disturbed overnight.

I've just had a look at that on Google. Looks good. Where do you park? Would it be in the large car/lorry park at the back?

I tend to park opposite the restaurant as it is open 24/7, under one of the many lights. Never had any issues about security but it feels better if you are in a lit area.

I fuel up there and ask to borrow the key for the water tap which is in a locked room close to the car wash, they are always very happy to oblige.(y)

Hi guys, we are pleased to know that you have arrived safely at Benidorm and that you had a good overnight stop at Sobradiel. All you have to do now is to soak up some sunshine and enjoy yourselves.
