around the calpe areaWell I will be here in September too!
Where are you thinking of staying?
hi thanks this is why i asked the question my handbook page 329 quotes selina 0/30 wr forward acea2spec 9.55535-s1. There are others, my local fiat dealer said any oil of the same spec will be ok to use i was wondering what other owners were usingMy Euro 6 Fiat is about a year old and I contacted Fiat in Milan regarding the right specification Oil, my handbook was not crystal clear. The story is that Euro 6 engines have specific demands. As a result the safest route to maintain the warranty is to go to a Fiat dealer, who will look up your particular vehicle and provide the appropriate oil. In my case it was not particularly expensive and I have receipt in case of future warranty issues. Again I'm told that if your engine does have a catastrophic failure the first thing they do is analysis the engine oil ??
In 6000 miles my engine has used about 1/3rd litre, mostly in the first 2000 miles.
I was also told that Fiat dealerships hold some 25 different oil specs (all Fina) and that it is very expensive for oil suppliers to get their oil officially certified by Fiat. Smaller suppliers may be unlikely to have "officially" approved oil for each particular specification. You pays your money and you takes your choice

@Waveski
FIAT are only too keen to say “it will invalidate your warranty”.
Hi Maison, I totally agree with your post. My only real point is that I have done everything possible to ensure that FIAT would not have any basis for any argument in the event a possible future warranty issue and that FIAT/FINA oil is not particularly expensive.
I also contacted Castrol technical department at the time, they could not recommend a suitable approved oil........that made me a little uneasy!
As an aside, I also spoke with FIAT regarding the warranty impact of fitting hydraulic suspension parts. Their response was that any original parts directly affected would not be covered under warranty but other things would be.....that would be a bit of minefield!
You make a good point on tow bars, mine is retro fitted by an"independent" specialist but I did insist on them using a FIAT approved wiring kit, at extra cost; their basic fit would have been using scotch locks and their own wiring kit!
exactly my point surely any oil of the correct spec would be ok

Made perfect sense!Whoops, Sorry Maison the above reply has come out rather wrong due to my lack of computing skills. I did not mean to modify you comment but add my reponse separately. Sorry but I hope it all makes sense?
ok the van is 9 months old i have owned it for 3 months i know the previous owner topped the oil up with the wrong oil so i will do an oil and filter change before i use it. As you probably know the oil and filter dont need changing for 2 years or 30000 miles both of which are nowhere near, the fiat professional that changed the egr pipe do not use the oil as stated in the handbook but they would not tell me who supplied it hence the questionI don’t think your listening to the replies properly? Both myself and @Waveski have spelt it out for you - however go and put an equivalent one in and hope you don’t get warranty problems eh! for the sake of a few quid more - your only looking at top up oil aren’t you?

Bought new in July. I went for the 95535.ds1 spec. Couldn’t find another oil with the same spec. Perhaps others have. Having spent so much on the Moho, I decided that the price of the oil was worth it. My choice. MikeIs your vehicle still within warranty?
