Hi all
We had a problem last August with our Dometic RM7651L fridge freezer not working on gas .
Resolved this by removing the fridge and turning it upside down
This is the link to that problem
https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/help-fridge-not-working.155956/page-2

After doing that the fridge worked fine.
On all three power sources

However the fridge now isn't working on mains electric
Works fine on gas
and fine on 12v

The power selector switch led glows green when switched to mains.
Any ideas as to the problem
Many thanks guys
Kev

Yep, sounds like the mains element has gone.

Check to see if there is 240v at the terminal block connection.

If there is, and after isolating the mains, disconnect the element and check its resistance - should be about 250 ohms.

I agree with the above, had it happen to me. Ours tripped the electrics when it went, first day of three weeks in France!

As above easy to check, depending on access getting the failed element out can be a test but if you have already had the fridge out once doing it again will be easy if that is easier.

I replaced the element in ours through the external vent spaces. No need to take the fridge out if you have top and bottom vents.

The tricky part was getting the metal sheathing that covers the insulation clipped back on.

Exactly my point, it was possible in my case but borderline, with experience of removal you can slide it forward and provide easier access to the shroud etc

Mayne the 240v bits are still the wrong way up after being tipped upside down.
Will it run off an inverter?:D

No just as @bigtwin said it is the sheath or cowl removal and reinstatement. The element slides into a tube attached to the flue which is surrounded by rockwool which is held in place by the sheath which clips together, so to release it you have to sort of scrunch it together with your hands and as it goes a way up the back of the fridge there can be a shortage of space to get your arms in. Hence if you relieve the fridge fixings and slide it forward a bit it gives you more space to work, but try without first. The odd plug on the end of the cable can be a bit of a pain to pull off but it does come off.

Don't worry, prior to selling the motorhome, I have a 12v element to change on our Thetford N150 fridge/freezer tomorrow.
I feel your pain!

Have you tested that mains is getting to the element with a meter.
Test at the back of the elememt side of the plug as these plugs can also cause loss of mains, its not always the element.
Our last van we cut the plug off and fitted a choc block connector and solved the problem, the plug was sparking.

It didn't mention to test after the connector plug which is the weakest point. Not the terminal block connection.

My element is connected directly to the terminal block and there is no plug between that and the element. As per the e-bay example I posted earlier.

Hi all
Two things the pic is great
EXCEPT
I don't know what I am looking at
or for
Secondly
The switch for mains is on a rotary switch which goes 240v then gas then 12v
I took the front off and the wiring vanishes behind a large
plastic box on top of the fridge without removing the fridge i can't see behind it for the 240v connections

I soooo wish I had taken pics when i removed it the last time
it was a bit fo a fandangle

@Duck Truck
If you’re not sure what you’re looking for perhaps you should consider getting someone else to resolve this for you.

The connections that we have all been referring to are at the back of the fridge. They will be visible behind the lower external vents.
