Hi All,
I will be fitting a rear box to my existing bike rack.
I have a couple of questions for our experts out there.
Does it need to have any "warning" or "hazard" symbol fitted to it, particularly if I go overseas?
If yes, I know I've seen them somewhere on the net but can anybody point me in the right direction please?

Thanks in advance.:Smile::Smile:

you'll need one in france (i think) and definately in spain.
denotes the very rear of the vehicle and any load.

as long as the lights and No plate are visible from behind and at a sideways angle i wouldnt bother here.

Since 2005! 2000+ nights so far...
I've got a home made tow-bar mounted box. Its a weird one as I need lights on it, but the regulations don't appear to cover it as its not a trailer...
I've simply got some reflective stripes at either end which has caused me no grief anywhere.

Just a note
the plain red and white plastic version is not legal in Spain, it has to have the proper red and white reflector material on it easily distinguishable from the red and white painted variety

Hi Geo,
Are you saying that really the only fully legal ones are the aluminium ones?

Thanks

Hi Peter,
In view of all the above posts about what's "legal" or not, what's the difference between your plastic ones & the aluminium ones?
To be sure do I have to get the aluminium one?
Thanks,
Martin:Smile:

the plastic one is legal in spain as long as it has the 4 plastic reflectors fitted it would appear
if it doesn't have that the whole thing needs a reflective surface
