not having a diesel engine before,i read somewhere that you should ,drive for about i/2 hr before the mot test ,because of the emissions, replies would be most gratfully recieved BAZ.

engine needs to be up to normal operating temp for the emmissions test, id say 30 mins is a bit excessive - 10-15mins would murder it :thumb:

If it is a bit smokey and you are worried about passing MOT an old trick we used to use with oldish Landrovers was to put a bit of petrol in the tank!

warm it up well and keep the revs up....use a lower gear than usual ....to clear as much crap from the system as possible.

i never go above 3rd in the mile or so to the test station from my house.....3rd gear and 30mph is not a problem.
