Having left my wing miiror on a roadsign in france does any one know iff ihave to buy a complete unit or can I just buy the mirror

If on the french chassis, then usually the whole mirror. The mirror is held via two incredibly weak cast stalks which snap very easily. To check these, unbolt and slide the sheath off. If they are intact, you are lucky and can get just a glass - otherwise whole lot.
