Buying from the shops in their containers is the expensive way. I downloaded a couple of apps to show me where the adblue dispensers are at petrol stations.
My dashboard tells me i have 1500 miles left before i need to fill up with adblue and last time i filled up on a french motorway (they are quite common at the huge petrols station aires on the non tolls) and i think it was about 44 cents a litre.

OK stupid question time

What is Adblue ????

seems to be a diesel additive but mine doesn't use it
Its urea thats injected into the exhaust to reduce emissions. Not an additive has its own tank. Man made now not animal wee

Diesel Euro 6 engines are the only ones that usually need it. I paid £14 for 10 litres in Halfords

My works van needs Adblue, much cheaper and easier to refill at petrol stations, a 3 litre container costs around £10, I can put 15 litres in the tank from a pump and it costs about £11, plus the ease of putting it in from a pump.

Some of the Adblue pumps at filling stations have a magnetic release in the nozzle and only work when used with a matching filler. Apparently this is to stop Muppets putting Adblue in the wrong tank but also prevents filling containers and vehicles without the matching filler. I have only been caught out by this once (on the A1).

Could someone help me with this? I was told by the dealer that it would show on the dash when I need to top up. Do I have to wait for that or can I just top up any time? If so how can I determine the MAX and MIN. If filling from a pump does it cut off when full?
Never had it before.

I top up when it gets below half because I can then get 10l in. On my Merc the Adblue gauge is found by paging up or down on the information display that has fuel consumption figures. I would be surprised if there wasn’t a gauge somewhere hidden in the info display, your handbook or dealer should be able to help. I wouldn’t rely on the pump cutting out but I can’t get one in under my bonnet anyway so I use one of the filling tubes available from VW Merc etc.

I needed some in France but could not fill from the pump for two reasons one , the spout will not fit in the a class gap under the bonnet 2. there is no magnetic ring on the Sprinter any way.
IT was .35 cents per litre bulk, but I had to buy a 10 litre can for 17 euros, retail pack for punters with cars that need it. A bit of a difference in the price. I can now fill my can from a friends bulk drum for 35p per litre, There is a BP station in Dover that does it from the bulk at 65 p per litre but only with the magnet filler. I tried a rare earth magnet tied to the cap but it doesn't work either.

thanks just ordered some, should last about 18 months at going rate
Apologies if you're already aware, but to get 18 months shelf life out of it, it needs to be stored correctly.

Too hot storage can reduce the shelf life to as little as 6 months.

Oh well, usual problem living in Scotland, they won't post to me, too far away, seems I live on an island, which is news to me.
Slightly off topic, where is the cut off point for pallet firms and courier firms for delivering in Scotland ?

Cut off point ? deliveries are available to the whole of the UK.

We find the ONLY country that doesn't deliver to Scotland is England.

I thought you meant the likes of hermes and other parcel firms will not cover certain areas, not the actual firms not delivering who are selling the goods

We do, but the posted sale was cheaper on line.

Hermes delivery man lives next door, I had one seller on Ebay said they (Hermes) wouldn't deliver to Highlands, so I replied that's I'd nip next door to tell him he didn't have a job LOL

May be they will not deliver for the price they want to pay.
