Been getting away since 2008
Our current experience is that if used abroad you will be cut off once you hit 16gb therefore buying anything over that is a waste of time and money

So with 3 Mobile look to their 12gb SIM

EDIT...... you will be charged £69 from 12gb to 16gb then cut off
I had the exact same thing last year with a massive bill.
I rang Three and told them I was missold the sim and they wrote it off.

What is the coverage like for Vodafone in the EU?
The coverage in the EU is reported as excellent by members who have used it.
As I stated previously, there is no throttling back of the Vodafone data sim card in europe so if you pay £30.00 for the 50 GB package that's what you get each month, a full 50GB. Call customer services after two months and cancel the contract (30 days notice) and get a full 3 months usage. After 3 months their fair play usage comes into play and like the rest you then pay for each MB of data downloaded.
If you want confirmation of all this from Vodafone, use their on line chat service and save a copy of the chat.

I'm new to all this, I'm planning to be in Europe from March until November, possibly longer. I am letting my house and full-timing, what should I do? Three month limits will be a problem.

My wife and I are on the net quite a bit each day but don't stream movies - only a few tunes when we've had a few...:)

My advice would be to sign up for the rolling contract with Vodafone and cancel after two months to get the full 3 months. (They do smaller packages, 50 GB per month is their biggest). Then, cover the rest of your trip with pre loaded data sim cards from three. Wait until nearer the time to see what best deals are available there's a lot of competition out there and prices will drop again i believe.

Can you tether a laptop/tablet on the Vodafone deal out of the UK?
Not sure! This is a data sim card, so most if not all users tend to put them directly in a MiFi so they can connect multiple devices to the internet at the same time. If you go onto the Vodafone website you can ask any question via their live chat .

Reading the info in the link then yes:

Want to use 4G data on the go with your tablet plan, data dongle or Mobile Wi-Fi router? A data-only SIM lets you stay connected on the move – just pop it into your device and you're ready to go.

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/shop/bun...7_1515849301_ae4ff27b30968b6d802eedb1ae5b35ed

If you scroll down you'll find that the 30-day sims are cheaper than the 12 month ones for the same amount of data!

Vodafone fair usage policy for abrod:

Is there a fair usage policy?
Yes. Roam-free is intended for periodic travel. It isn’t meant for users roaming on a semi-permanent or permanent basis.

We’ll send you a text requesting you moderate your usage in our Roam-free destinations if you use them for a total of 2 months or more during any 4-month period. If your usage in any of our Roam-free destinations continues to exceed this allowance after a 2-week period from which you first received this text, we may charge you for further use or bar your roaming services. We’ll always let you know before we do this.

I would check that fair use policy again as I have it in writing from their web chat agents it's now three months. You could always ask again by using the online chat and saving a copy of the conversation.

I've just had a shuftie at the '3' pdf with the T&Cs on ref FAH dated 29 December 2017:

http://www.three.co.uk/termspdf/Legacy_Price_Guide_291217.pdf

You now have up to 13gb if you are a contract customer (ie 12/24 months) and 12gb for PAYG/30 day contracts, see 1st bullet point below:

upload_2018-1-13_16-11-16.png

It also states that the usage is still limited to 2 [full] months in a 12 month period:

I have used 3 prepaid sims but have found data very slow on the continent and not 4g. Ok for Web browsing or this forum but no good for streaming.
I plan to change to a vodaphone contract using a tethered phone as I need a new phone anyway as my current windows phone, which is pretty good, is no longer supported.

Getting Better
@PhilandMena I took out a Vodafone 50gb£30mth rolling contract on the 27th dec, I did it in the shop and I said is there any better deals then that and he said he could give me the mangers discount of 10% so I now have it, 50gb a month for £27mth for the life of the contract... I started traveling out to Spain on the 6th from Cornwall to the tunnel down through France/Spain and now near Nerja.... have used about 15gb already and have had 4g all the way with no problems at all in my HUAWEI 5577.... Mrs watched an hour of Corrie on the iPad live while I’m on another doing my stuff and it took about 750mb....

The only thing I had a problem with was using Vodafone’s data app, I’ve deleted it now as it was rubbish and bad reviews so I just use my HUAWEI app to look at what I’ve used and to keeps taps on it all...
I’m well pleased as last sept/Oct I did four 3 12gb sims at £100 in just a month as they cut every sim at 9gb....

We’re going over at least 3 times a year at 5-8wks at a time so this is ideal and I’m saving a fortune compared to 3..(y)

At the moment as we pay £20.52 for 40gb with Three but are now out of contract so it's just rolling on each month as if it was a 30 day one - we can get a new Three 40gb contract for £20 a month with 'binge' (which we're unlikely use) and a new free home Huawei 4G Router (more expensive than the usual MIFIs) but can't see the point in tying ourselves into another 12 month contract for virtually the same thing to save 52p a month!

However, in our area only Three are offering a 100gb data sim for £30 a month on a 12 month contract including the same new router ... we're mulling it over at the moment as we can't decide what to do! Might have to have a visit to the Three shop and see if we can do a deal with the manager!

Hard to beat NOS card in Portugal. We have the 3 go anywhere but that is limited to 12gb and we have found in France, Italy, Greece and Spain, that even where you get a signal, the speeds are so slow that anything more than looking at your email is virtually impossible.
Contrast that with the NOS card. €15 for 15 days with unlimited data. We've had Radio 4 on constantly, watched BBCtv whenever we want. Further, when we went to buy the card, we didn't need to bring passports, Portuguese address, grandfather's inside leg measurement etc. Just paid the money and got the card.
You realise just how much we are ripped off in the U.K. with internet provision.

Can you show me a service provider outside of the UK who can better the 50GB of data every 30 days for £25.00 without any restrictions (throttling back) in any E.U. country. This is what Vodafone UK are currently offering.
