Can I just clarify what the law is on wild camping meets/gatherings etc Is it legal for a pub to just allow 29 vans or so to stop on their premises overnight. Isn't special insurance needed?

Not as far as I'm aware. Organised through FB. So as a non paying membership site I wouldn't think they had insurance.

You done your meet through mhf so therefore had insurance @Wildbill (y)

@Jim

If you swap out the word 'vans' for 'cars', would the question even be asked?

@Jim
If it's just one night , I don't see how it could be against any law , it's a car park doesn't say not overnight , as long as there is no disturbance or obvious camping , can't see any problem.

as motor home owners thay have a minimum of third party insurance
And as motorhome owners a I am sure responcibil members of the motor homing community
The pub will have public libilty insurance
I don't see a problem it's just sume frends getting together
I have Ben to a few fb meets and fund them better than sum other meets
Live and let lived I say

Is there any update on this or some indication of why the question was asked, are you one of the parked up or nearby home owner or what

I would like to know the answer so that I would know if the pub should have insurance to allow 29 vans for the weekend. I know that the organiser doesn't.

I'm surprised the nearby campsite hasn't complained.

I'm waiting on Jim replying. I know he has insurance. What it actually covers I do not know.
Don't think you would have to have any special insurance any different than any car park.

im a not so newbie
Am I missing something here.

You let a good few MoHo owners you will be at a certain Pub carpark on a certain day.

The Landlord is happy for you to park in his carpark that you are entitled to do as you will be a patron of the Pub.

Is this any different to say a car club having a meet at a Pub?

I cant see what the issue is.

Just read your post

http://www.motorhomeparking.co.uk/act1960.htm

Would appear there is an issue o_O

The problem Bill is if I have been asked to organise a rally at a pub somewhere on behalf of a FB group then I would want to know that its legal. Which its not. Another reason why I asked.

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
I suppose there wouldn't be an issue until there was one. So to speak.
Like a fire that spread etc. Then how would you go on making a claim on your insurance, pubs insurance, clubs insurance.....or the sue the organiser........:Eeek:

Holding a rally anywhere will probably need an exemption certificate.

Read Jims first post in RALLY PLANNING.

The organiser will have a duty of care and have responsibility for the well being of the campers.

Having an informal 'Meet' where you tell someone you will be camping at a pub and they turn up is not a rally, but i would imagine the landlord would then have the duty of care.

Mine field for any organiser.

I think the britstops have an exemption up to 5 vans. Could be wrong though.

Camping exemption can only be issued to a fully constatuted club from what I see that means a club with a fully democraricly elected committee a quram or sumthing like that it must also hold a AGM anuly of it member's?
I know I applayed for a camping exemption for my youth organisation I know that the c&m have a fully elected committee and the c&cc do thay are club's a group of people can't call them shelf a club with out a elected committee club's and instatut sume what there's a ack of parliment
Regarding clubs
Do forms have the same ?
Just wondering?

You're correct - which is why no BritStops book entry is for more than 5.
