Hi Guys and Gals,

I hoping to get away this weekend up to the Lakes with the missus and baby. A site would be prefered near Bowness/Windermere so we can wander round and have a few pints and something to eat.

Any recomendations welcome

Thanks

Have you tried the Bowness CC site ?

Very convenient but often booked up.

Doesn't appear to be open until March.

Sorry.

And if you haven't booked by NOW you'll have a terrible job getting in, though we have a couple of times.

I wonder what state it's in, it must have been under water a few months ago.

Someone just posted a message on an Aire in Ambleside if that would do, basically town centre car park.

"Bookings contact is Graham Drylie on mfmcambles@hotmail.com
Here are his directions:
if coming from the Kendal/Windermere direction you will join the one-way road system coming into Ambleside, almost as soon as you hit the one way system you will see a roadside council sign for 'Miller Bridge Car Park', follow the sign and you will see the entrance gate to the campsite area. If coming from the Keswick/Grasmere direction you'll need to go through Ambleside village centre then rejoin the one way system again and follow as above. If it's any help the postcode for the site is LA22 0EE."

"The Site is quiet, secure and easy walk into town. Hardstanding ... ish, water available but no chemical diposal yet but there installing it soon. 6 vans there on sat 2 vans on sunday room for prob 20 or so. Defo reccomend it for 6-8 pound per night and it has to be said that Graeme who runs it is a thouroulghly nice chap"
