I know its going to take a long, long time to break even on my Gaslow installation, but I do feel good when being on site for a week at this time of year with water and space heating going and then top up the gas system for only eight quid! :thumb:

They say it's because the bottles have to be transported back, checked, re-furbished and calibrated, re-filled and transported back to the retailer again.

Had a problem with my Alde heating system, and took the M/H to a specialist recomended by Alde, in Shropshire, as they don't have service engineers anymore. He sorts all types of problems out, a brilliant man. Fridges, heating, or electrical. It works out cheaper than taking the M/H back to the dealers in Devon with fuel prices as they are. I said I was glad I found him, rather than go to other recomended dealers who couldn't find the faults in the past. He replied that dealers from all over the country send the work to him and charge a handeling fee on top. Or he can travel for a price, M/homes, boats, caravans, all within his scope. When he'd finnished I asked if he sold
Gas filler adapters in his shop
. He said no and be carefull as Garage gas has additives added,
that can adversely affect the heater burners, and its noticeable. This has been picked up by the heater manufactures, and are useing it as an excuse to cancel the warranties. With systems costing £2500 new, be careful and he would pay the extra, just to be sure. We live and learn. Been back last week as the leisure batteries were only lasting an hour. He soon sorted and checked the whole system, then explained the faults and how he found them. So nice to get a man that knows what he's doing, and qualified to the hilt in all fields.
Rgds Graham.

Graeme - what was the problem with your Leisure Battery and how did he sort it ?

Hi Delwood, the problem was three loose connections. one on the battery, and two in the system after the charger, He determined this by reading the onboard voltage and ameter, before he started. He said it showed voltage of 12.7, which went down quickly to 11.0 v with all the lights on. Then recoverd back up to 12.5v. when they were switched off. This lead him to believe it was a battery storeage problem rather than the charger. I love a man who explains why he is doing this and that, makes it so easy to follow him. I asked him to check the whole system, to which he replied, he was going to anyway. As the batteries are of the Gell type, he said I cannot fit lead acid ones without re-setting the system. (A bit more info as I was going to try my mates new ones). They are a quality make and Gell are better, suggests that I run them and charge fully to see how get on with them for a week or so. Batteries can be damaged by discharging, and as they are very expensive, so take those back under warranty if necessary, he said. So far all is OK, I informed the dealer who said fine we will replace if needed with the same Gell ones. Hope this is of help.
Rgd's Graham.
