I am due to collect a March 2007 (2006 model) fiat based motorhome next week
(2 Ltr JTD) from the dealer - 22k miles.

However, I noticed some posts which say that 2006 fiats onwards have "wrong gear ratios and other problems".
As the motorhome in qestion is a 2006 model, would it fall into this range of problem fiats?
If so what problems and with what results?
Should I worry?

Help please before I commit to this van.....

Thanks

Do a search for Fiat judder or juddergate, this has been discussed on many forums.
I wouldn't certainly have a good test drive, especially reversing up a slope for a reasonable length. As said it affects the new shape Fiat if it is an older model such as the 2.8 JTD which it possibly is this doesn't have the same problem.

It's not the new shape. 1st Reg'd Mar 2nd 2007 (must be 2006 model)
Does this mean I don't need to worry?

I am still interested in any problems the older model has?

Cheers

You seem to be a born worrier.

Speedo drive nylon gear failure caused by water in gearbox oil. It seems a water drain can drip into a gearbox vent underneath and this can lead to the gear failing. A couple of pounds gear with a few hundred fitting cost. Just get the gearbox oil checked. Mine was OK and they bent the drain further away from the vent.

And stop worrying, it's a very sound motor.
